Good game decided on last UK play

The Grove is 10 acres of trees, pop up tents full of tv’s and bars and food - not really tailgating - cant drive to it - gotta pay for set up or walk in with a wagon and fight for a spot

IU has 40 acres across 17th Street. We could be famous for tailgates if we wanted.

Played golf at TPC Southwind
Saw Sun Records
Saw the Liberty Bowl
Saw Lorraine Motel

A friend of mine from down here in Lyon County went to the game, too. He said people were carrying mums to the game and thought it odd.

Kentucky should've won, blew it.

Been there to Oxford a few times. Got to see Eli Manning beat Arkansas and Matt Jones in 2003. Great atmosphere. Packed us in like sardines in the Stadium. Hoddy Toddy, Gosh O Mighty. The old men (fans) usually started cheers in the crowd. The Ole Miss fans kept reciting the Razorback cheer:
Whole Hog, Half a Ham
Arkansas ain't worth a D...

Football is an institution in the south and Ole Miss football is an example. It is a problem at IU where basketball was an institution for a long time. Football is changing in Indiana with high school play-offs, the Colts, basketball high school going to classes - I think it was needed, and newer fans not so invested in basketball.

IU needs a run of good football where they can compete with the bigger programs, and I see facilities closer to that now. I don't think IU will ever be at the level of OSU or UM, I don't say never because schools change in the pecking order. It takes more than just the right coach as we see with an AD that hasn't shown he is a football guy - our president seems to be a football person so we will see. IU is too content to stay in the bubble of safety and not make a real push for excellence in football.

Purdue got lucky with one coach in football when they hired Tiller but they failed a number of times. It isn't clear Brohm is the answer just as it isn't clear if coach Allen is the right answer. Both need more time to show if they are and I hope coach Allen is the right guy for the job but more importantly I hope he gets the support to elevate IU football instead of overcoming obstacle.

I don't see Dolson as anything but a basketball AD. That will make 80% of so called IU fans happy and that's obviously a huge problem.

No visit to Graceland while in Memphis

Went by, not in. Sun Records is the Elvis I want to remember. Graceland is graffiti and shag carpet.
Went once decades ago. Place is not big at all. Brady bunch tacky meets trump tacky.

His plane was parked across the street and he is buried in his back yard near the racquetball building.

We had one day for golf and tourism, so we missed some some stuff

Worst misses were Stax Records and a bbq joint my son recommended.

Interesting side story. The guy I went on this trip with was the same guy I tried to talk into going to Muscle Shoals on the way back from a trip to a UK @ Bama trip years ago. He rejected the opportunity, then went to Muscle Shoals on his own a few years later, on the way home from a golf trip, and now music history is his thing!

He owes me a Muscle Shoals trip!

Nice trip … nicer would have been a Q3 Hoosier TD or two.

Check your email for our itinerary. It's the path we took for our visit a couple years ago. Don't miss Champy's!

Memphis in May ..
Great music festival...Usually some of musicians at the Jazzfest in New Orleans go to ..Memphis In May ...
As it's a easy move up the Mississippi..
Only bad thing about it..It can fall on the first Saturday in May..
Which is the Kentucky Derby..
