Late 70s I worked for an AMC/Pontiac/GMC dealership. The Pacers and Gremlins were pieces of shit, but no moreso that the Pontiacs. The plain ones (not the gussied up ones like in the picture) were sold as basic, no frills transportation, and they delivered.

The LV explosion is very strange. If you wanted to cause a lot of damage, a truck built like a tank would not be my choice. I would choose a vehicle that would send shrapnel a great distance. And why was a vehicle with advanced self driving capabilities be used? Was the driver shot and the car sent to the hotel with a remote detonation device? I don't know why someone would do this, but it could send investigators down the wrong path to allow someone to get out of the country. How was the driver and firearms burned beyond recognition, but he was identified by a passport?
It took planning and there should be a trail of the Tesla driver gathering material for the attack. If not then there may be more to the story.
