USA v Canada

They're around.

HiFi up in Indy's making it tough for Bird and Vogue to book Indie/Alt Country/Alt Folk, so they rely on the cover bands.

Rod Tuffcurls is down here a bunch. 😄
HiFi has taken a lot of country acts from Dukes. Dukes is a superior roadhouse venue for real country. HiFi is sterile. Reminds me of the Peach Pit After Dark. Dukes is legit and had Lonestar way before HiFi copied that.

We hang at Dukes quite a bit. Recognized it as a legit Texas Honkeytonk when we moved up here years ago.

Was up there last week, actually. Good place.

It used to be great pre-Covid and before Dustin passed. But it’s still fun. I’ve seen a lot of great shows there.

It really does look like an All-Star game, with players from only two countries.
This is not being played like an All-Star game, though. It’s more like a Stanley Cup game 7 between two stacked teams.

But this tournament is replacing the NHL all-star game this year. And I don’t think the NHL will ever go back to the old style all-star game. This tournament has been way too big to not do it every year.

That's a much better description. I just meant that this is clearly top talent and top skill, but you explained what it looks like better than I did.

Brutal way to lose. Lost mcjesus on the reversal after he missed the shot off the face off.

We had plenty of chances and played better in OT. Matthews had to finish that chance.

Big Picture: Huge success for hockey and the NHL. They have to do this tournament every year going forward. I can't imagine anytime in the past anyone got this excited about hockey in February.

Agreed, great competition and great for the game. Unlike football, I think hockey is in great shape for the future, despite the injury risk.

I know it’s MN, but the hockey demand continues to go up still. I’ve heard the same in other hotbeds.

Long story short, sports like hockey and *the sport that shall not be named* have a better future than football, which no responsible parent wants their kids to get into.

Yeah but these aren't National teams in the same way the Olympic teams are. All the players are NHL players, selected based on where they were from. Russia didn't get a team but there are plenty of Russians playing in the NHL (a few more than Finland has). Tomorrow they all go back to being teammates. Still a great tournament, way better than an All Star game.

He's a hockey goalie. They're all ****ing weirdos. I mean, would you take a hundred mile an hour piece of vulcanized rubber to your face or worse, your groin?

Lord.
