Uniforms…

If I remember right the 90’s were also when “Hoosier Buddy” was attempted. Dear Lord let’s don’t live that travesty again

I know Adidas forced us into these uniforms but they aren’t anything to get excited about. They just look like outdated uniforms to me. They are not old enough to be cool yet.

And can we get rid of the block I. I know a lot of the old-timers get a stiffy when they see it, but It is not the symbol of our university- not too mention we typically get our a$$es handed to us when we wear them.

Michael McNeely spent like a million dollars to settle on the trident/pitchfork/cactus (what I always saw it as when a kid)! Don’t let all that money be spent in vain! There are people who don’t have enough to eat! Etc.

Agreed - there was probably a 7 figure consulting engagement whose output was that the athletic department should use one logo and a consistent shade of red. I think we may need to bring the consultants back in!

Based on social media, you are waaaaaaay in the minority on this. Young and old. Adidas didn’t force anything. They brought these out because the red ones last year were really popular.

And they’re likely here to stay, so…

The symbol of our University? Isn't that a Hoosier? An amorphous persona of a person from Indiana? I'm not sure how that would be depicted on a helmet.

Personally I like the block I.

I’d honestly prefer a legit throwback if it’s allowed by the uniform rules. Mesh belly shirts & all.

Alternatively, I loved the helmets with the state flag deal on one side. I know it doesn’t register with a lot of people not from Indiana, but Maryland has their crest all over their stuff. It’s unique and eventually wouldn’t be so unusual for fans.

Come on - you can’t deny the trident is a much more well known logo so why go with the block I.
Only 1 trident in college sports. Obviously noticed the I in yesterdays game on the Illinois uniforms. Don't know what Idaho displays? IU trident is the INDIANA brand. Still think there is a non-busy/overbearing way to scheme the color cream onto all IU uniforms.

Is this close to what you're thinking of?? Definitely an amorphous persona and androgymous to boot!!.... Personnaly, I don't think it would work because it's probably not a Hoosier.... but who knows?

I would not lose any sleep if they went with the Trident helmet. Anything but the Chrome dome.

This is the key. Lots of block I’s among colleges, no tridents. The block I is simply not broadly recognizable as Indiana beyond our alums of a specific era, and its use is to our detriment. The trident is. Always choose distinction.

I am also out of the mainstream on this. I prefer the white on white on the road with crimson helmet and the trident.

I am a bad bad fan, I know.

We typically get our asses handed to us anytime we show up

Well stated, forever build the brand.

Agreed. The 1988(?) Peach Bowl uni's were bad-ass. All white, red helmets with black facemask, black shoes. Looked great.

Personally, if it were my decision...

I'd adopt the overall scheme and look of the early 90's unis, but still use a version of our current trident on the helmet. And maybe look to "simplify" the look a bit...maybe look into less stripes in certain areas.

Further:

Road unis would be all white, including helmets.

Home unis would be white pants, crimson jersey and helmets.

Alternative jerseys...figure out what the "kids" like these days and blend IU colors with that. Something that would make a teenager put a fire emoji on their social media.

Candy stripes, unless my history isn't up to snuff, which is possible, is a uniquely men's basketball tradition. Lets keep it there.

Both Peach Bowls we played toe-to-toe with 2 very good teams.

If we could have just held them on those last drives......
You remember more game detail than I do from back then, I just remember losing and not being able to see the upper deck very well due to the fog. And puking in a MARTA station trash can
