Unbelievable choke by Duke

Although, this was not as big of a choke as when IU beat Duke in 2002. That Duke team was filled with experienced seniors and this one is led by freshmen, plus this Houston team is much better than IU’s 2002 team, who was just a 4 seed, if I recall. Therefore, I’d say that 2002 Duke choke was their biggest ever.
Always felt for years that Duke gets seeded higher than they really deserve just because they’re Duke.

Crushing loss for Dook fans, but still not as crushing as when IU beat them in the 2002 tourney.
Ahhh…. Really??

POY Jason Williams at 90% + at the line misses 2 to send IU to that final four. 2002. Plain. Simple

Derrick Coleman in ‘87. Same deal

Simple.
No matter how good — you don’t trust/pay kids with undeveloped central nervous systems. . Idiotic investment.
They are pro good. No question
But are rhey pros? No chance.

Doesn’t happen in industry or any real life scenario.
Until they are——- wait for it —- Houston age dudes with a decent CV.
Proven. Accomplished. Adult.
All that annoying sh*t.
See last nights result.
It’s about maturity not coaching.

Williams was a 67% free throw shooter.

Houston wore Duke down by the end. As good as they were most of the game Duke had to work hard. By the end they had no legs and couldnt score. Houston plays a group of grown men with experience. Physically beat Duke down. That said, Duke choked on some big plays.

The championship comes down to who has anything left in the tank to impose their pace and style of play.

Seems like there was about 5 minutes left, give or take, when one of the commentators said Duke looked tired. Duke was up double digits at the time.

Lots of reasons for Dukes loss but don’t overlook the obvious - Duke no longer has coach K. It’s not the institution but instead coaches that make the difference. Even more so in the ever increasing rate of change in NCAA bball (rosters, rules, staffs …)

That’s still a third year, first time, 37 year old head coach who got to the FF after an Elite Eight last season. I’d say Scheyer is going to be just fine. This year it sure didn’t hurt having one of the best players, if not the best all-around player in college basketball.

3rd year coach vs 30 year coach.

Disliked Duke since they bought Teddy Valentine.

Now they own the most awesome, epic choke for the ages. LOL
,
I watched from the 12 min mark of the second half today, as that is where I quit last night, frustrated and went to bed. There were multiple times I said to myself, how in the hell is Houston going to win this?

Is he like the guy who was born on 3rd base and thought he hit a triple?

I wonder if Krsgfvvski was rooting for or against Duke. He seems like the type of guy that would root against Scheyer whether he picked him or not.

I guess. He won 27 games his first two years and 30something this year. Improved his confidence finish every year and went farther in the tournament every year. He’s at least staying on 3rd.

I think any real top 15 team would have won 30
games this year playing in the ACC. IMO the jury is still out on Scheyer. Wasn’t he like 1-4 in close games?
