UK Coach Search Updates

Hiring a Christian is not the same thing as asking someone to do something against their conscience. Can you force a lesbian baker to make a cake for muslims who hate lesbians? No. But when you are talking about hiring somebody for a job it is far different. Religious beliefs should not be a determining factor.
You do realize religious beliefs ARE just personal beliefs. Nothing about them is more unique, valuable, important or truer than the other.....right?

To answer your question, the rules should be equally applied be it for any personal belief.

Good grief. It’s not about them not hiring him. Hes at a secular Christian school. He incorporates his secular beliefs into his coaching and it’s part of THIER curriculum. That won’t jive at a lot of schools and it’s not a bad or good thing. It’s about him saying no!!!!! For the millionth time.

I knew a guy that was a Baylor grad from modest means but married a fellow Baylor grad and she was from an affluent family. I know how cliche it sounds but the pool boy really did point the way to a divorce.

I understand Victor’s point-Drew in a perfect place for his beliefs so why would he move.

I understand Sheppard is from a very religious family so maybe it helped him become a true lights out shooter. :)

At least he doesn't want to damn them to Hell. There is that. If you think about it, if there is a Heaven to gain and a Hell to shun then the most loving thing a person can do is to show them their need for salvation. It's not fanatical. It's loving them.
Unless another religion out there sends only Christian’s to hell and it is the correct one. Not saying they are the correct one, but you’re taking a big chance buddy.

That’s the thing. Radical Christians don’t believe in the constitution except for the 2nd Amendment.

Just a heads up, secular means having none or neutral religious ties. The opposite of religious as Scott Drew is and seemingly incorporates into all aspects of his life.

I’m not an expert on this but it’s clear his beliefs are front and center. It’s one of if not the main reason he is at Baylor.

You are trying to nickel and dime him? Self got $13 mil this year under his new contract.

I know a coach that will work for less but need to pay his green fees.
Boosters plan to offer 5-7 years 11M. And that's just a starting number. Could easily go up.

He’s a fanatical Cristian. His first priority is getting his players saved and to heaven. Then basketball. He’s at his spot. UK is in the Bible Belt. That’s the only thing similar. Baylor…private Cristian school. Valpo….private Cristian school. See a pattern?
Was he trying to save Hanner?

Oh I agree. I was just giving you a heads up that you were using secular in the opposite way. I do not think he would assimilate well to many public schools and the expectations of the higher ups. I personally would not want to hire someone of that mindset but I know I'm a minority on this board regarding the ethics of the coaches I'd want in Bloomington.

Sounds like UK is going after him. Offering insane money. I guess Mitch Barnhart and Drew are buds.

Indiana type vibe is when you're 5 coaches down in 20 years. And have a 66 year old on the sideline.
I’m saying the start. It’s not a a finished product but offering him 11 million for 7 years is a buddy move. Hes a 7 mill guy for 5.

Drew isn't getting 11m 7 years. That was the planned offer for Hurley. Was that even offered to him? Was it offered and he said no and then we moved to Drew? No one knows yet.

Soooooo hope it’s Donovan. Hurley is obnoxious acting. Drew shoves his religious beliefs down your throat.

Well I can honestly say in my opinion it’s going to take a significant increase to get Drew too. Hes what….a little over 5 mill a year. I know reports said 3.5 mill but that’s false.

I say 8-9 million will get it done. Mitch will probably offer 8 mil.

Drew doesn’t seem like a good fit for Kentucky basketball..
Matt Jones is saying Drew hasn't been offered. Who the hell knows. Some guy in Trilly Donovan's discord who called some stuff, also is adamant that UK is getting Hurley or Donovan.
