The pitching matchup has been given for just Saturday for both teams. Both of the matchups for Friday and Sunday are TBD by both teams. As expected being in Los Angeles, it will be sunny all weekend with the temps in the mid 70s.

Pitching matchups:

Friday (9 p.m. ET) - TBD for both teams.

Saturday (5 p.m. ET) - It's RHP Ben Grable on the mound for IU with an ERA of 4.50 and a WHIP of 1.38 in 16.0 IP. He has 19 Ks against 6 BBs, and his OBA is .254.

UCLA will start RHP Michael Barnett with an ERA of 4.12 and a WHIP of 1.37 in 19.2 IP. He has 26 Ks to just 3 BBs, and his OBA is .296.

Sunday (4 pm. ET) - TBD for both teams.

Here are the team overall stats and ranking in the B1G in the three major areas:

Batting: IU is 3rd with a team average of .314, while UCLA is 8th with an average of .289.

Pitching: IU is 12th with a team ERA of 5.90, while UCLA is 4th with a team ERA of 4.11.

Fielding: IU is tied for 11th with a fielding average of 96.7, while UCLA is 1st with a team fielding average of 98.5.

That last stat line bothers me. Hopefully we’ve flushed some of that early season nonsense. Our pitchers need stout defense.

We had an outstanding fielding series against OSU, but had one error in the Evansville game. Still, that is a huge improvement, and we have made some outstanding defensive plays over that period. Hopefully, we have turned the corner in that category.
