Thank you to everyone who joined our inaugural owning of Cavanagh group. There are around 55 members who joined the group so feel free to come to this thread to trash talk, criticize or compliment picks, etc. throughout the tourney. I'll post updates of the standings as we make our way to the championship. Also, other members' brackets can now be viewed.

One housecleaning issue for a handful of group entries who need to update their bracket name or help us connect their entry with their Rivals username. If your bracket and/or owner name is listed below, please update your bracket name on ESPN to your Rivals username or reply to this thread to verify your entry. You have until the end of the day tomorrow, Friday, to make this update or we'll have to boot you from the best group on ESPN.

Unknown Entries:
  • Vic Frankenstein
  • espn50650037 1
  • ESPNFAN9632872472 1 (Owner: IU69)
  • Naptown Clown 2
  • espnfan4633275114 1
  • Bob's car wash
  • Cheyennemtnman
  • Seedless Hoosier
I tried searching a few of these names on Rivals and in chat, so they might be legit or more known by some of the veteran users.

Good luck everyone! Go Hoosiers!!!

This is what eventually happens to teams that don't play great D. They get beat and don't win it all. Happened sooner than I thought it would though.

Guard play, the Big Ten lacks in it, especially Iowa. Gilyard controlled that game from start to finish. Iowa relied on entry feeds to make plays. Richmond had a point guard to do it for them and he shredded Iowa.

Tourney ball is all about guard play ..

Collins came out of nowhere for MI today… gonna be a player

If I heard correctly, this was Gilyard's 5th game in a row playing 40 minutes? Post game on court interview, he wasn't even sweating.

Can't play great D without good guards.
fwiw - the trend according to Kenpom, is offense wins first round games. While those teams with great defense and poor offense, especially TOs, tend to get upset at a higher ratio. It takes both to advance further though ..

Fran generally waits until the second round to lose ... lol. He had a cheese draw too ... What is that now, 2 3rd round, 3 2nd round, and now 2 1st round? Never has the talent or defense to go any further.

How many actually picked us to win? Love IU but after Dayton, just didn't see us putting it together but shocked we were this bad. St. Mary's is a good team but we put our worst effort in tonight.

I had us going to the Final 4 but that was to push some positive vibes. Honestly thought we'd win tonight. Didn't watch the second half but followed the scored while I watched UK lose.

Going into the Round of 32, we have a 3-way (noice) tie between Pryght, Imsowyctcwuzbetta, and IU69 (also noice). Anyone know who this user is? All picking 99.8% of the winners up to this point.

Mohepa and jsgryder are battling it out for last place. I'm sure a lot will change over the next two days.

I've been busy so I'll give the users who still need to connect their bracket name to their Rivals username until end of day tomorrow, Sunday.

Don't forget the IU women play today at 1:30 ET. Go Hoosiers!

Have two brackets. Played my Baylor bracket in this group. Terrible move.
My Auburn bracket has 280 points after NC win. Rank is 47K.
Thanks for putting this group together and letting me play. Lots of fun.
Thankful the money bracket is in the other league. Massive grin!
Go Hoosiers!

I have one final four pick left and assuredly am going to get last. Gerdis is in 1st currently.
I am?

I had no idea, I thought my bracket was blown up. I know I had KY in the final, so that’s not good.

Here's your Sweet 16 update, @CriticArisen. As Cav said, @.Gerdis is in the number one spot with a 10 point lead over @mobilehoosier in second place. @.Gerdis is one of the few who picked the cheating KU Jayhawks so that could pay off in the end, like cheating is paying off for Bill Self.

There are six users tied for third who are 20 points behind the leader and two users tied for ninth who are 30 points back.

Again, there are likely to be some big shifts heading into the final 4 as the points per pick increase.

I feel like the meaning of this song can be considered as a metaphor for IU Bball at the moment.

Points scored doesn't matter.

Points left .... does.

So I’m screwed no matter what is what you’re saying.
I prefer to use the term "under bracketed". Come over here and sit down by me and we'll talk shit about everyone ahead of us. It's a long list though and will only get longer.

Points remaining:
I picked 12 perfect games in the South. Went 11-1 in the West and still have points to get all the way to final 4. Can't win championship.
I have no points to get in East or Midwest, which is why T.M.P.'s post above is money.
I can't win. Who cares. Totally fun. Go Hoosiers!

looking at the brackets it’s interesting that zero have Duke winning it all. As a 2 seed it seems reasonable to think at least one bracket would have them.

typically I look backwards to see who has the best chance. Points don’t matter, pick the finalists and you got a shot. Obviously this group is small, but it would really throw things for a loop if we had a final that no one picked.

The Zags were a very popular pick.
And Arizona... sigh. Houston's a solid team and last night was the first time I watched them all season. I'm split between Houston and Arkansas as my personal favorites now. Absolutely not Duke, UNC, KU, or PU.

On a side note, I randomly picked a test bracket without looking at teams and that bracket is better than my official bracket.

I have Arkansas in the Final Four, but I had Ky in the final. I’m with you on the personal favorites thing. Picking a KU / KY Final was just a prediction, not who I wanted to win. Would have been happy to see the Red Raiders win.
