Rolijah Hardy is going to end up being the steal of last years recruiting class (also the lowest rated kid). I expect him to be Walker’s replacement as early as next year. Just has an absolute nose for the football. Jones is a solid depth place who you can plug and play. Utzinger is a walk-on from Cathedral who played on some very good teams (started with Hudson Miller who started for Purdue in the Bucket Game who is also a walk-on). Primarily a special teams guy but did have a few MAC offers coming out of high school that I was pleasantly surprised he turned down to walk-on.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they put him on scholarship.

Thinking that you're going to replace starters with F or Rs-F isn't the way this is going to work. You need to replace productive players with players who can also be at the same level of productivity.

OL and DL would absolutely be my main priorities.

Shhhhhhhhh!!!! I think this is one Cig's main secrets to his early success at IU. And I suspect it will guide him going forward. I've championed this approach for years on the bball board.

Its easier in basketball, because you only have to fill a few spots every year. But one of the first filters I'd have when sifting through who to go after the hardest, on the recruiting trail...championships and personal awards. Conference championships, State championships, mental attitude awards, all conference, all state, AAU tournament championships...

In short...distinguish winners and achievers from the sea of talent.

Not 100% sure just how many snaps he took this year, but it just seemed like every time he was in there, he made something happen.

1 sack, 2 FFs, 2 INTs including a Pick-6. That's a pretty good line for a backup LB, let alone a freshman. Definitely flew under the radar due to injuries in high school. I really wouldn't be surprised to see him starting next year.

LB doesn't look bad at all with Fisher, I. Jones (coming on), Hardy (potential star). Just need depth. A kid named Jeff Utzinger played in 12 games. Will he be a player??

Obviously you want stars anywhere, but I'd say QB is biggest need, followed OL & DL; TE; TB; WR; LB; DB

At WR Charlie Becker played in 11 games, so he might get some PT. Need a couple guys for depth there. Basically same at TB with Black & Green (if he returns), TE would be a place for a star to step in as a starter, but you do have Bomba, Foley & West, who will all probably be ok as reserves.

Someone mentioned we might have 18 portal spots--If so I'd go 1 QB, 3 OL, 5 DL, 3 WRs, 2 TBs, 2 LBs, 2 DBs based on current roster.

no guard does anything here. Every guard that transferred out has had dramatic improvement immediately the first year outside of that 5 star from Jeff/New Albany area that went to Western Kentucky. our ball coach is just ass.

That's thinking too narrowly, in my opinion. Sure, there will be some of that, but I'd guess 90% of our targets won't fit that description.
