FIFY. Stop there. The idea that there are tons of great coaches out there, to the point where we get to choose their style of play is ludicrous. So, just how incompetent do you think our admin is to hit on 5 consecutive guys who, for whatever reason, didn't work out? They'd almost have to be trying to undermine our program. Why do coaches ever fail and why aren't there dozens of guys who make the tournament every single year? When you take out the guys who aren't going to accept or aren't options because of buyouts, age, and now DV, we will be very lucky to find a coach who can get us back to regularly contending for conference titles and making deep tourney runs. If a guy can come here and get us to winning as described above, I care slightly more about style of play than the color of socks he chooses to wear, and my fashion-sense is near zero.

Modern offenses win because they prioritize efficiency, emphasizing three-pointers, layups, and free throws...backed by analytics. Traditional offenses struggle, in part, due to reliance on post play, slower pace, and difficulty erasing deficits, making them less adaptable in the NCAA tournament.
The Big Ten, which has leaned heavily on traditional inside-out play, hasn’t produced a national champion since 2000. We've had nothing but a traditional offense for the last 8 years under Archie and Woody, and many fans are ready to move on. At the very least, I hope we hire someone who employs a hybrid approach.
The first part of your post is relevant. If OE is the best predictor of success, then that's relevant. My argument is winning matters most, so Archie and Woody's style of play is not relevant, because they didn't win nearly enough. Bennett and McCollum are because they've won. If we could have Bennett's level of success here that he had at UVA, sign me up. Same for Bo at WI, and Painter at Purdue. If we can get those results, I know the fans will get behind that coach and system, and I'll be right there too, so will you and everyone here wringing their hands about style of play.
Yeah, I’m assuming that you are implying that the B10 style of play dictates the individual teams style of play? In other words, if the B10 relies on traditional old school post play, there is an incentive to mimic that, to excel in conference play.
Not exactly. I just don’t want to hire another coach who overlooks analytics. In college basketball, modern and hybrid offenses have proven to be far more successful than traditional offenses, not to mention more exciting to watch. I believe that a coach's style of play significantly increases their chances of success.
