First Boys High School game for my home town school. This week is 100% the best sporting day and week of the year. Only rivaled by the years that the Masters tournament butts in to the Final Four...and the first week of the NCAA tournament.

But...2 High school boys games, including a big rivalry game on Saturday. Bucket game. Other rivalry college football games. Thanksgiving NFL. Maui/Atlantis type College bball.

Where's your hometown ?
Pretty easy to see I live in Washington..Tomorrow night is what I say...Is the largest in season crowd of the year.
Around 4 -5000 for Washington Vs.Barr Reeve..During the Zellers it was about 6000 and the tournament bleachers were out..

Exact opposite side of the state. Middlebury (Northridge). We have a brand new gym, seats 4000. Its going to be one of the loudest gyms in Northern Indiana. We've had some girls games, and last night we had Girl/Boy JV double header. With only about 1000 people last night, it was louder than most gyms in our area. We'll come close to packing it tonight, I'd guess...against Elkhart.

Attending quality high school games is the best value in sports.
We're fortunate to have really solid boys and girls teams this year. And we're breaking in a shiny new arena. Its already been a ton of fun, and the boys haven't even started yet. Tonight should be incredible with a Girl/Boy Varsity double header against Elkhart.

Not high school but I missed the USI game here in Evansville last night where they upset Indiana State.
USI is playing pretty well, though their record does not reflect it. They had DePaul and Bellermine both beat before blowing it and losing in OTs. The Olowoniyi player from Australia will be a portal prospect from somebody next year. Very athletic and has a nice mid range jumper. They are pretty fun to watch.

What's the early forecast for NLC and NIC?

What's the early forecast for NLC and NIC?
NLC has 3 teams that should battle for the title. Warsaw, Northridge, and Northwood. Warsaw and Northridge return essentially their same teams from last year. Northwood is having to replace a lot of seniors, but they have some good transfers, and a couple football kids have really grown up a lot physically. Wouldn't be surprised to see any of those 3 win NLC, and/or make a deep tournament run. Northwood has a good chance at a run in 3A, if they can get by St Joe.

NIC...Riley and St Joe are probably the favorites heading in to the season. Washington is going to be dangerous, they have the overall best player, and a couple impactful transfers. Penn is gonna be fairly young, but they're very talented. And they have a very talented and athletic football player coming out for bball this year, he'll be impactful.

Couple other Northern Indiana teams that will make a lot of noise...Crown Point might be the best team north of Indy. They almost beat Fishers at Semi State last year, and they return most of their key players. Wayne will be really good again this year, probably still the best team in Ft Wayne area. I'm sure there will be others emerge, obviously there are some good smaller class teams as well.

I remember playing Washington and it packed! Dave Omer was a great coach. The ball hardly ever touched the floor. Passing and movement.
