TJD?

Let me try to recap. TJD is thin, but has quickness that will allow him to get to the basket. His outside shooting hasn't been shown or proven at this point. He rebounds well (possibly good hands?).

On defense, it sounds like he will benefit by spending time with a strength and conditioning program to defend bigger and more experienced interior players. For now he is expected to do well at defending the rim for a freshman, but not ready to be our best defender. More strength will improve defending in the post.

Is this accurate?

Is a summer in the weight room enough time to make him the clear starting 4, or does Race have an edge early with the head start he has had? It is hard to know as Race came into the mix late and never became involved much on offense. He seemed to be willing to play defense and understood what he needed to do. Where does Smith play if TJD and Race have the 4 locked down? He has to really improve at the 4 or be a 3 with Hunter if he wants to play.

I think Ivan Renko had a better outside shot and was a better ball handler but Davis will have a better inside game.

Not Fair!!! Renko was a 6* player overseas. 6-9 255. More physical than TJD but not as athletic. lol. Alhambra was another IU should have got.A little thin though. DWH

When you watch McDonald's All-Americans and Indiana Mr. BB you are potentially seeing NBA talent in a HS gym. Elite Talent HS Players are more prepared for the NBA today than they were 20 years ago.
That is exactly my point. ;)

TJD seems to be a pretty well rounded player. He moves well, can face the basket some, can drive a bit, and has both good post passing and strong post moves inside.
And he seems to have good leaping ability too.

There will be questions on what he can do defensively right away, but there is no doubt he will start. What becomes interesting is whether Davis and Smith, or Smith and Hunter start alongside him and that may depend on whom he can defend.

Davis or Brunk, TJD, and Hunter. Smith and Anderson off the bench

It is only year 3 for Archie, but my judgment of him tells me he will generally go with upper classmen and experience, and Smith will be that.

I never said he didn’t have real skills. I just said let’s let him be himself and not set him up to fail with unrealistic expectations like so many did with Romeo.
Maybe romeo didn't meet some folks expectations but he wasn't a failure. IMO, everyone would very happy if he were to to return for a 2nd season.
