IU had the entire staff watching him. They are putting a full-court press on for his recruitment. Evidently he's our number one target.
With Jamie Kaiser also. Looks like those two are at the top of list Woody watched all of kaiser's games recently and he is scheduling a visit. Booker and Page look like they are below Power and kaiser at this point either due to IU losing interest or neither showing the the interest necessary to pursue further.
maybe for different reasons. If you read the story rikki linked, it basically says they are trying to fill 2 primary needs for 2023: shooting/scoring and size. I think it was implying one of the 2 you mentioned and then Arrinten or Booker (there is another big we have offered too, I believe). I'd say they put the full court press on Kaiser since they are just getting in with him and as insurance since Power's stock has blown up so much.
Kaiser & Power fill the shooting (both are great shooters) & size (power is 6’10” and a very good rebounder. Plus, we still have Reneau Duncomb
I think this is why he’s pushing so hard for those two.
I'm not arguing, I'm just stating how I took the article, that the recruiting plan was to take 1 post and 1 shooting wing/perimeter 4 and 1 post. The way I interpreted it was that Kaiser was possibly a backup plan to Power with his blowing up or maybe to try and push him to accepting?
I'm having a hard time picturing Duncomb on the floor this year. I wouldn't be surprised if he only sees action during some of the preseason cupcake games.
Agreed, but I hope he does then. I guess CMW was trying to build chemistry among his starters and get them familiar with his sets but I thought we missed opportunities to get some bench guys PT in the precon games last year.
Duncomb is the wild card. He has skills, but needs strength. If he doesn’t see the floor this year, I look for him to enter the portal
But the reality is he could be a lot better, and still not play much. I mean he's likely got 3 all conference guys (maybe not this year for Malik, but sounds like he likely could be) in front of him. The opportunity is there for lots of PT when TJD and Race are gone.
