Don't really care for Goodman but I like this choice. Would he leave Iowa State though is the question.

Says he makes 2.5 million, up to 3.5 starting soon. If IU wanted him, I think they could get him. I don’t think Drew is realistic; I wish. I like OTZ a hell of a lot better than Mick. Throw 7 mil at him and see how ties are broken.

I posted about this a few weeks ago. I’m in Iowa and my ISU colleagues have been grumbling about this for a month now.
Yeah, I think Ben McCollum is the more likely choice. As long as he has the personality to be in the fishbowl.
I keep hearing that but what is in Ames, IA that is so special. Most coaches don't end up coaching at their alma mater for one reason or another. How about doubling his salary. That will make the wife happy. Plus,Bloomington>Ames.
I don't know why people think that is such a huge factor. It may be, but it's far from certain. People go on and work and live at places that aren't their alma mater most of the time. Entirely different conference and still a "small town" school, in Btown vs Ames. Maybe she loves it, but I don't think it's automatic that she's going to deny her husband a possible "career opportunity" because she wants to live in the City she graduated from.
If Otzelberger then turns us down you have to take a chance with Beard. IU has to get this right and bring in a proven winner.
Des Moines is awesome. A lot more to offer a grown man and his family than Bloomington. With that said, money talks.
Watching Houston and Kelvin Sampson shut down Iowa State right now, but Sampson does that to everyone. We had the best coach in the country but he screwed that opportunity up. Let’s hope the basketball Gods feel we’ve spent enough time in purgatory with the next hire.
She’s more than just a grad. She was a star player on Iowa State’s women’s team. I’m not sure if that makes a difference of course, but she obviously has strong ties to the athletic department. But who knows?
Lmao. Yeah. No way leaving Iowa and a few million dollars would be sufficient to rip somebody away from ISU…

Yes Indiana is better than Iowa as far as the state goes. Iowa is not very populated and not much to do. Ames is a really good college town though.
Now that your golden boy is out of the picture you might want to take another look at Ben.
Yep, I like this area personally better than it but it isn’t bad. Iowa st does have an awesome fan base. No pro sports teams so Iowa st fans travel well.
Not everyone agrees on what makes a good town to live in. We seem to want different things. And, at least to me, those things have frequently changed during my life.
Sampson was going to eff up at IU one way or another. He is a rotten apple. Showed his colors. Good coach, but at a major cost.
I was proud of how Dakich cleared the stink out of the room once he was in charge. It cost IU a lot of wins, but it was the right thing to do. Roach clips in the lockers? Sampson was an embarrassment.
Yeah, he recruited some questionable characters for sure. He wanted to win right away, but he should’ve known better at a place like IU. I think he learned his lesson the hard way, and at our expense. By all accounts he recruits good kids at Houston. What’s done is done, but he really screwed up.
