No fight vs OSU. Player defections. Injuries that never seem to heal.
I had no expectation of winning yesterday vs OSU. I had no expectation of even playing a close game. But I had no expectation we'd see the clown game we got from IU. The only thing that kept OSU from scoring 90 was OSU decision to not score 90.
I've hoped this squad was just on the bad side of a thin line between winning and losing. We just needed some players to get healthy. We just needed some units to gel. We just needed to get some confidence.
That game was a confidence buster. Any bad moment will spiral to a loss for this team.
It's obviously gotten in the heads of the decision makers as well. Throwing out our kickoff specialist to punt from his goal line when he's not fielded a punt all season? Throwing out our 5th string walk-on QB to take snaps in a game that wasn't completely out of control? Calling a flea flicker against a d-line that is walking through your o-line? Those are decisions made by guys who've lost all concept of competing in a game.
I know CTA's LEO philosophy demands holding your teammates accountable but still respecting them as humans. At a certain point, that love needs to extend to those being coached to put them in better position to succeed. I'm sure Jim Harbaugh didn't relish firing Don Brown after working with him successfully for multiple seasons. Brohm probably didn't like letting Nick Holt go after working with him for years. But when the results weren't there, they had to make moves and their teams are better for it.
If you can't fix this year, fix next year.
