"This is Trump's America now."

That may be true. Non-citizens have a lot of rights, but they don't have all the same rights citizens have. But I haven't actually seen any such provision spelled out. Not really my area.

Heard it on NPR and they talked about it on the Kommie channel tonight.

SWMBO is really really shitty, much more than she was even over Iraq and Trump 1.0. The attacks against Canada have really bothered her, and now the idea of a resident alien being made into a political prisoner is hitting close to home.

Media is simply against pubs and trump. Msm. They’re horrible. I feel so badly for the poor luck to be born into all these shithole countries. And they’re shitholes. Trump is right what a world. My minion’s morning got off to a horrible start. The donut shop we go to had the cake donuts he wanted but none with sprinkles. Nightmare. He loves sprinkles. Meanwhile I was watching bald and bankrupt on YouTube and he was taking mr beast the famous scary train in Mexico to try to get to America. People were dragging little minions like mine on top of the train to ride for days. Scary. Dangerous. At night. Moms would tie the kids to the top of the train. Heartrending. Just bad luck

First they came for the Jews...
. . . and then the French academics?

Considering Benedict Cumberbatch GIF by BBC

Let's start with them disappearing people to El Salvador.

It’s very easy to take the unsympathetic position on this. We’re told they’re gang members and even if they aren’t they were here illegally anyway.

That’s doesn’t necessarily mean they should rot in an El Salvador prison however.

Reminds me of Guantanamo Bay during the terror wars. We were assured that it was only for the “worst of the worst” until of course we find out that many of the prisoners at Guantanamo were completely innocent.

The civil liberties crowd should be skeptical of this move even is Boasberg is an unlawful hack.

I became concerned when the only rally that CNN covered was the one in Butler Pennsylvania! Why that one?
I saw that meme on Facebook too. It's false. No network covered Trump rallies live from beginning to end. Fox would do some live segments. Every network jumped into that rally to cover it live AFTER Trump was shot. Nothing at all unusual about that.

I think this case will be interesting. On its face, it seems like this guy broke no laws, has no criminal record, and was deported to El Salvador based on a tattoo and a social media picture.

..."many of the prisoners were completely innocent"....

I missed that...

Depends. Concerned about what?
Seems pretty straightforward. Concerned about any government confiscating phones of persons not charged with any crime whatsoever, looking for political opinions that they do not like, and barring such persons from the country so that they cannot speak at a scientific conference having nothing whatsoever to do with politics.

The Trump Regime will keep chipping away at free speech unless and until they're stopped. The judiciary is the guardrail, and will need to step up.

The Regime is pulling grant money for research regarding crop diversity because - - - you guessed it - - - it includes the word "diversity." They're pulling money from research regarding differences in infant mortality in urban and rural areas because it relates to race and, therefore, is "woke." Just a complete shit show.

If that's happening, it needs to be fixed ASAP.

That is a completely bunk thing to be researching. Reminds me of when people thought Covid was racist.
Wait, you are saying that studying health care disparities isn't worth studying, or just that the health care disparities where nonwhites and/or nonmales seem to be most affected are bunk?

For example, there are studies clearly showing much higher cancer mortality in lower income communities (which often have high % of African Americans). The problem seems to be poor early cancer detection due to lack of available health care. A solution is to open more low cost clinics in such areas. Completely bunk?

What if you saw similar stats among rural white male farmers and tried to open more rural low cost clinics. Bunk too?

Also... realize that the cost of early detection and treatment of people with cancers is tiny compared to the cost of treating people with late stage terminal cancers. Avert 25% of mortality and it's fantastic economic policy, not merely the right thing to do.

They would be smarter to couch the disparity in economic terms rather than racial.

Aren't there valid reasons to include race in research though?

Sickle Cell Anemia, for example. I'm sure there are others, but that's one that readily came to mind.

Edit - I may be over generalizing your comment. Reading it again, it looks like you're specifically addressing the infant mortality comment.

But why do black people have higher rates of Sickle Cell?

Hint: it’s not because they’re black

Where did I say only black people had sickle cell anemia, genius?

It's inherited and is primarily tied to people of a particular racial ancestry based on their ancestor's general origin.

You don't see it in folks with European ancestry.

From 2016 to 2018, of the 74,817 hospitalized in the USA for sickle cell disease, 69,889 (93.4%) identified as Black, 3,603 (4.8%) as Hispanic, and 1,325 (1.8%) as White.

The evolution of this genetic trait seems to be in part driven by the fact that people with one copy of the defective gene (described as having "sickle cell trait") have an advantage of some added resistance to malaria and usually survive to child bearing age, unlike those with two copies.

So yeah, a person presents with sickle cell disease, there is a higher chance of he or she being black instead of anything else, than of Steve Alford making a free throw for IU in the mid 80s.

Sickle cell aside, disparities between races usually parallel disparities in income. If you concentrate on the latter, you will get better buy in and less pushback. Don't talk about blacks having poorer health outcomes, talk about the poor having poorer health outcomes.

Across the board in so many areas

Exactly. So so many issues that are looked at in racial terms could be and most likely are in actuality reflective of socio-economic differences. College admissions are another easy one: base your "affirmative action" policies on economic background, not race. That benefits poor white trash and poor urban blacks the same.
