Greenland would be interesting as well. I have no idea the mechanics of how that would work. Could we conceivably strong arm the Danes into selling it to us? Raise a referendum?

I know you're joking but even that wouldn't work. We are a capitalist country. We don't own any wells or oil companies. The only thing our government does is open new areas for drilling and issue permits. Neither of which has a significant impact on end consumer prices.
We'd just invade Saudi Arabia and then let private companies takeover the oil operations. That would do the opposite of lower prices.

As far as I know, Saudi Arabia is not operating at its full production capacity. They lost a lot of money during Covid, when oil briefly fell below $0/barrel. You know, when no one was driving anywhere and demand dropped…but Trump still gets credit, among the MAGAts, for having lower gas prices. These countries aren’t going to max capacity because it will, wait for it, lower the price of oil. Although I’ve seen articles since (roughly) May of last year that oil prices are expected to drop this spring/summer due to an oil glut. Doesn’t seem like private companies (or countries like Saudi Arabia) will rush to produce more oil and lower the price even more.
It’s just crazy how we honestly aren’t even aware of the things we need until they are right in front of our faces. For me Greenland is priority one
