This feels like the beginning of the end for Woodson

I thought we were in deep s*it when he started bragging about recruiting even before the first game. Bad karma.

I literally don’t know what to think about this whole mess. Watched the 1st with GF. We were both so disgusted with the clear and obvious lack of everything IU (effort/focus/toughness); we’d had enough and switched over to a Netflix series.

I just finished the second half on my own. Nice little rally, but this team never plays totally together. One guy gets hot and scores a couple trips in a row. Then it’s someone else’s turn to try. Nothing they try feels comfortable or confident.

The defense is unrecognizable.

Whatever they’re being taught in practice isn’t translating to games. Do you blame the players for not learning or the coaches (who bought/recruited) those players?
What drove me nuts is that we got a run going with good pace and then Malik gets the ball. He just dribbles the air out of it, and never considers anyone else getting a shot that possession.

I said 1-3 the next four. 19-11 best case scenario but it could get worse.
I say they win 17-18 games tops. Woodson never got Ware involved in O. Malik only got 10 attemps too. Can't win when X provides nothing and Galloway gives up more points than he scores.

Gee after every game ,fired the coach. Purdue was tough..

Dude, I appreciate the optimism but DAMN.
IU has played 5 - Q1 teams and lost all five.
That is bad enough but IU was not even competitive sans Kansas. The average margin of loss has been 17.8 points.
Then you take into account that last night was CMW's 15th loss of 15+ points.
In Crean's and Archie's last three years, they had 20 games of 15+ COMBINED!
IU may reach that 20 games of 15+ this year.
DAMN

I don't see Woody going anywhere. He's an IU guy, right? Isn't that the key ingredient for success at IU that has been missing? Wonder why the football coach isn't an IU guy.....puzzling.

I’d like to disagree with the OP and still have some kind of optimism for this season and beyond, but I can’t. This team is poorly coached and things are going downhill fast. I didn’t have the desire to post anything about the game last night because I just didn’t care anymore.

Who was the poster who's said we would go 14-6 in the big ten a few weeks ago? So we have to finish 10-3 for that. Not happening

IU players were obviously instructed to hack and grab tonight in some way. Many of the foul calls were obvious. And mostly because IU defenders have been lazy and out of position.

Doesn’t account for all of how lopsided it’s been called. But it’s a lot of it.
I'm getting old but I never thought I'd see IU fans complaining about calls made at the hall of calls. Knight literally owned the refs. Surely you'd agree with that.
I do think Purdue got a few marginal calls. The fouls Edey drew were pretty much legit. He's too much to handle and IU would love to have him.
I also think Woodson might be better off leaving X on the bench. That dude has to be causing internal problems.
Galloway plays hard.
You better hope Ware and Reneau stay. Reneau has made a big leap in his play. Is the NBA calling any of these guys.
Anyway see you at Mackey.

It's very easy to see why Indiana has failed with Davis, Crean, Miller, and Woodson all only coached one place and never built mutiple programs or had no coaching experience. Sampson built Washington State, Oklahoma, and Indiana in his short time and my god Houston is a top 5 team every year. Chris Beard and Bruce Pearl have proved it at mutiple places so either could win at Indiana. As much as I love May it worries me a little he has only did it at one school. So it's very critical that Dolson hires a guy with a proven track record.

I disagree, get the right recruits ,players who will go through a wall for you and see the difference.

Woody isn’t looking like he is recruiting that type. He has star chaised and looks to be in rebuild mode each year. He is a short term coach at IU, so can’t fault the guy for trying to hit home runs in recruiting. Issue is he isn’t building teams.

YES he is a short term coach, hell he is 65 who is trying to swing for the fences. Yes he is going to swing and miss. Yes he is swinging for the stars. He is recruiting players ,ho want to go to the NBA.

…………..Or building a culture (or the type of positive culture that I would hope to see).

Are in what? What did they win? What did IU do? Round of 32 with two NBA guys, no BIG ten or Big ten tourney champ??
Point being, Woody had 2 starters who are in the NBA and we didn’t really win anything.
They made it to the NBA, We lived in different times. Those are the players dreams

No it’s blatant sarcasm.
Talk slowly to Sunshine Pumping Team Woody- they are catching up. But not everyone learns at the same pace. I bet after next season even Aloha and Willdog will accept what we’ve been demonstrating for the past year- Woody got us into Dance with Archie’s team yay rah. Now see if he can actually build his own roster!! Hint: data sure indicates he cannot!!

My Question is how do you know?

says who? TJD and JHS are in.
What? Trayce graduated. That doesn't count as a Woodson recruit. Hood-Shifino has wasted a year of his career sitting on the end of the bench. He would have averaged 17+ ppg and probably would have given himself no worse than the same opportunity. Instead, he sits, and Indiana is worse for having lost him. As the coach at Indiana, Woodson missed on Hood-Shifino. They didn't win anything and now there's a big hole at point guard. Obvious failure. One and dones only work if you win and someone fills their spot.

My Question is how do you know?
The results of all three of his seasons. Year one we barely scraped into NCAA and got drilled by St Mary’s, then last season with everyone returning and two five star recruits we got a 4 seed but got drilled by the 5 seed, and now this year we are 12-6 with zero Q-1 wins. Woody isn’t getting it done. I’m younger than you but still too old to waste another 4 years waiting for decent coaching.

Yep last year was not some incredible success. We were picked to win the big ten and were ranked top 20 preseason. Making the round of 32 was certainly not some overachievment. In fact many had expected a sweet sixeteen minimum. Year before we were the very last team to make the ncaa.
