The Worst Admin in the entire country

Look at the results in the two major sports. Fred is the worst AD in America. If he had an ounce of honor, he would hand in his resignation letter tomorrow. 7 losses in a row is acceptable for the IU men's basketball team. What a sorry state of affairs.

I know I shouldn't but.... EXACTLY what is FG supposed to do about this 7 game skid?

Archie was hailed as a home run hire and the best hire in college basketball by every talking head and mag out there. He was endorsed by RMK himself. So if you inclined to say it was a bad hire, that is revisionist history at it's best.

It doesn’t matter. There has to be accountability for the pathetic state of affairs in both football and basketball. Fred hired the two coaches who are failing. He has to be held accountable. That is how it works at every other school in the country. He would be long gone at a school that took sports seriously.

Fred sat around while Creans recruiting went down the drain then he throws his signature hire under the bus. Fred is an idiot. Who doesn’t question their multi million dollar coach when he hands out scholarships to Grant Gelon and Tim Priller

Fred Glass shouldn't be evaluating anything going forward. Someone else needs to evaluate Archie and Allen.

If you are saying that Crean was FG's hire, he wasn't. He extended him, which he shouldn't have but he didn't hire him.

So, at schools that take sports seriously, Archie would be fired after 1 1/2 years? So you would just start the coaching carousel?

Reactions: IU Hardcore
Hey, Love4beer. I bet you can’t wait for the 5,000 plus overly emotional fans we’re going to bring to Simon on February 19. It won’t be as many fans as the bi-annual invasion of 25,000 Buckeye fans to Memorial during football season, or the 15,000 plus we brought to the birdpoonoconcessions concreteium in November, but we’ll be everywhere. Prices are falling and the IU fans who are in our employ are anxious to curry favor with their betters, so count on us to turn up for a fun evening of hoops.

Love4beer Sucks! That’s going to be a great chant when all the IU fans are halfway back to Indy with 10 minutes to go in the game.

**** you.

I’m saying he waited too long to fire him cause McRobbie and Glass didn’t want to pay buyout because all they care about is the IU balance sheet

You give him one more year unless you've got a grand slam hire in the bag right now. unlikely. But year 3 had better have an enormous improvement and have us in the NCAA or else no year 4. That's what is sensible right now.

No, nothing will or should happen but it is also obvious to many that Miller is average or mediocre at best, worse than Crean. Nothing he did in his one season and half impressed anybody. Indiana basketball is just simply doomed.
Fred might be responsible for getting Miller on board but which firm did IU hire that identified and recommended Miller during his hiring process? too late to get money back?

The issue goes higher than just AD. In many ways, Glass is handcuffed by university culture. It’s been decades of decline. We don’t have it at the top

Programs are both clean and not on the NCAA's radar. Donations came in to update Assembly Hall and Memorial Stadium. Why would they fire Glass? Indiana proved when they hired Davis that they don't really care about winning. Indiana just got lucky with Knight. That sixth banner is never gonna happen.

Totally agree. If the culture does not change, I don't think the next guy they hire would be much better than Davis, Sampson, Crean or Miller. It is toxic and not just in basketball and sports. IU academics have been dropping in rankings for decades. Now they are barely in the top 100 in the US news ranking. Pathetic....

People have to quit supporting the school financially to make a difference. Quit going to games and we’ll see changes. Everyone who complains and still buys tickets shouldn’t be complaining at all...you’re enabling it.

Serious question. How is the "university culture" handcuffing Glass?

I can not see how the "top" has much to do with the athletic department especially if McRobbie is as indifferent to athletics as some on here say. I would think that would mean that the AD is left to his own devices.

It is easy to throw out some platitude such as your last line but please define it for me. The more detail the better.

I'm not defending Fred Glass but I just don't buy this.

Archie was widely considered to be a home run hire. Maybe he will be. He's shown himself to be a really good recruiter but the results on the court have awful. The injuries have been brutal. Maybe a healthy Deron and Hunter improves things. Maybe not. But the job Archie has done with the guys who are out there has been garbage. Just my opinion.

IUFB is what it is. IUFB is Penn St. or Nebraska basketball. Even the good teams will be beaten by the teams with better talent. IUFB will be a 5/6 win team as long as they play in the brutal east. Sometimes they might win 7, which would be awesome, but the schedule will always be stacked against them.

Michigan State lost six games this year and still handled us. Rutgers gave them a tougher game. The issue is that Indiana can’t beat a mediocre Purdue program anymore. There is no excuse for Purdue to be better than IU in any sport. The fact that they are shows how incompetent the leadership at IU is.

IUFB has had like 3 season with more than 6 wins in 30 years. Purdue is 60-31 against IU in the bucket. What in the actual hell are you talking about?

IU has one of the worst athletic departments in the B1G. We've sucked at the two major sports for a long time with amazing consistency. We totally suck at football and we underachieve almost every year in bball.

The problem was there before Fred, and I don't see signs of Fred changing things. Not sure what to do, maybe see how Arch does next year and Fred is tied to that.

Don't know that Fred ever ran a business.
I recall Fred was appointed as head of the Capital Improvement Board in Indy, and was responsible for the ridiculous give away to Irsay's Colt contract for the Stadium.

Fred was given the AD job because he was connected to the Simon cash.

Not saying I totally disagree with you but do you even know who the programs administrations are. I probably couldn't tell you more than 5 AD's in the country so maybe we are to close to this situation.

Fred was tied in to the rich Indianapolis donor community. That’s it. He had no other qualifications.

Or talking about them on message boards since it shows that you still care

Because of FG the Colts are still in Indy and a super bowl was played in a winter climate.

That is what I have heard. It is all about his political connections. The clown shoould not have been let nowhere near picking the last coach after his Crean extension fiasco.
