He’s been president for 4.5 years and he’s run a deficit in every one of those years, while crowing about the “greatest economy”- is there any clearer evidence for the brilliance on this dying board that trickle down supply side voodoo economics doesn’t work?I’d bet we don’t reduce the deficit any year of this President’s term. I’m very much not good with that, but I think that’s what will happen.
In post-Reagan times that actually traces back to McConnell‘s epiphany that Republican administrations can run all the deficit they want and the public will still blame it on Democrats. He’s been president for 4.5 years and he’s run a deficit in every one of those years, while crowing about the “greatest economy”- is there any clearer evidence for the brilliance on this dying board that trickle down supply side voodoo economics doesn’t work?
Hmmm...... I wonder why that is?In post-Reagan times that actually traces back to McConnell‘s epiphany that Republican administrations can run all the deficit they want and the public will still blame it on Democrats.
Or that, despite growing revenue, Democrat proposed spending far exceeds revenue?
Not as much as Democrats want.So BBB will not far exceed revenue?
Just since we have little time left, the end is near, I will say this D has wanted a freeze or even a 1% cut. But I note that isn't popular with Ds or Rs.Not as much as Democrats want.
I wish Republicans in Congress cared about reducing deficits and debt. The Senate bill will increase both to the tune of about $4 trillion more over 10 years.Just since we have little time left, the end is near, I will say this D has wanted a freeze or even a 1% cut. But I note that isn't popular with Ds or Rs.

I agree 100%Just since we have little time left, the end is near, I will say this D has wanted a freeze or even a 1% cut. But I note that isn't popular with Ds or Rs.
Here is the secret. Big Beautiful Bill is a ripoff of Build Back Better, stealing the BBB alliteration from Biden. It would be nice if somebody torpedoed the Big Bullshit Buttphuque but alas methinks only a bunker buster could penetrate this deep morass of spending.
I think the BBB adds about $90 billion to defense spending. There’s no mood for any cuts, let alone slashing. Everything needs to be looked at for cuts and freezes.I agree 100%
And I'm all for slashing defense spending. It's out of control.
I was glad to see the provision on selling federal lands removed. I probably align with the Democrats on that issueI think the BBB adds about $90 billion to defense spending. There’s no mood for any cuts, let alone slashing. Everything needs to be looked at for cuts and freezes.
That got extremely bastardized in the public. The federal government owns way too much land and most of it isn’t anywhere people would want to visit recreationally. We need to monetize some of the Feds assets.I was glad to see the provision on selling federal lands removed. I probably align with the Democrats on that issue
You are probably correct but once the cat is out of the bag then there is no going back. That got extremely bastardized in the public. The federal government owns way too much land and most of it isn’t anywhere people would want to visit recreationally. We need to monetize some of the Feds assets.
And I’m not terribly upset about it either. We should be leasing the land anyway and grabbing reoccurring revenue. I’m not sure what a one time sale really does as far as making a dent in the budget. You are probably correct but once the cat is out of the bag then there is no going back.
