The poison of politics

It's how he talks on every issue. Someone asks him a question and he just answers what he wants the question to be in a way that pats himself on the back.

For example, him bringing up space force and how he created it and thus he is awesome. lol
I hesitate to make comparisons/statements like this, but I really believe that a fair amount of people on this board could answer the questions he's asked more thoughtfully, eloquently and knowledgeable than he ever does. And that's without the intel and prior knowledge of classified information he's been privy to.

I honestly don't get how so many people fall for his shit. I really don't. Maybe it's a combination of the perception that he's an over-the-top rich person who 'tells it like it is' (whatever that means). I really can't take anyone who supports him seriously.

I think his appeal is on the line of those email marketing campaigns that promise top real estate/investment secrets to make you rich if you pay the reduced rate of $59.99 in the next 24 hours. I'm guessing there is a huge crossover of the MAGA crowd and people who subscribe to that shit too.

I’m clear that it’s a representation of what the general public thinks. But it’s zero evidence that what they think is true.
It is not presented as proof of anything except the aggregated opinion of respondents gathered in a way to ensure that it is valid for what it claims to be - a representative sample of registered voters on the dates indicated.

1) Lucy said, "If we had a strong president like Trump this would’ve never happened!"
2) I said, "he says with no evidence."
3) you said, here's a poll of people who agree with Lucy.

THAT. IS. NOT. EVIDENCE. of anything other than people's opinions. It's certainly not evidence that "a strong president like Trump" would've prevented anything.

True, I should have played it safe and just said "most" instead of "every" but Trump has a very inflated ego of himself and it seems to be very evident in what he says. I'd be surprised if I missed a time when his ego wasn't talking.

I voted for him, yes, but I don't blindly support him. I wouldn't argue that he's right on every issue and I most assuredly won't claim that everything would have been sunshine and lollipops whenever something bad happens on the next president's watch.

Well, its not out of some laboratory and I made no such claim. It IS evidence of what the American registered voter believes just now and is as valid as the methodology. The American registered voters - 62% of them which is of landslide proportions - believe that if Trump was President this wouldn't have happened. Now THAT is a fact. It is NOT a poll of "people who agree with Lucy". It is a poll of a sample of registered voters representing the American electorate at large.

I'm not sure how to say this any clearer, because we're really missing each other here. Evidence of what people think is not evidence that what they think is true.

If we had a poll from the 1400s, the overwhelming consensus would be that the world was flat & the center of the universe. It's not evidence that it's true, it's only evidence of what people think.

Evidence of the claim would be pointing to some thing/policy/position/quote that demonstrates the claim is true.

the lack of self-awareness/reflection is staggering.
i know it really is isn't it but not the way you think it is. Trump was blasted for getting a bit testy . Biden sticks his finger in their chests , calls them a SOB just to name a few but you are blind to it. Trump at least took all questions, Biden won't. His State of The Union would be best broadcast on Comedy Central, it will be entertaining. Biggest question is if he will be able to actually read what is written for him to say.

Yea, I don't believe that 62% number for a second.

Make no mistake, Biden is a doddering old man and has never been a great talker. Serious habit of sticking his foot in his mouth.

Trump was more than willing to talk but he was a terrible public speaker with meandering non-sensical answers, pre-emptively calling everything fake news (even that which was later shown to be true), insults, "throw is ass out," "sons-of-bitches," the works.

I'm not saying Biden is a great talker or a Dale Carnegie communicator, I'm only saying that if insults & bad public speaking is the barometer, we're 0-2 on picking winners the last two elections.

It doesn't claim to be evidence of truth. Its evidence of public opinion. Your responses here are straw men.

Holy Over Your Head Batman!

So we're clear that he didn't provide evidence of his claim and that the poll you posted in response doesn't either? Then why the heck did you respond with a poll to a comment about lack of evidence for a fact?

And you don't know what a straw man argument is.

Certainly.

My point was that the nature of politics and the “road not taken” when it comes to decision making is there.

If we would’ve pulled all assets from Afghanistan, the administration would’ve been blamed for teeing the Afghans up for the Taliban to take back over because of no support.

With all initial intelligence suggesting that Russia will eventually win, there WILL be complaints that we effectively have weapons to Russia if they win.

You may not like the answers or even the man or his politics. But for anyone to claim that Trump is more intelligent or even has the same ability to analyze a situation or command of vocabulary and language skills is ridiculous...

You make one really good point, Biden managed to fleece the American people for 47 years living off the govt. teet making a fortune vs actually doing stuff is probably smarter in some strange way. At least you didnt type an entire encyclopedia. Cornpop was a bad dude and young children love to rub the hair on my legs is definitely the sign of intelligence. Its really easy to look smart when being interviewed by an asslicker.

Dude, you just outlined the Trump University business model. That's exactly what they did.

I wish there were more unity.

What if the underbelly knew that he was nowhere near as rich as he wants them to believe? Mark Cuban pointed this out in 2015.
