The next Democrat Presidential Ticket

This is a pretty naive and simplistic view. Just bankrupt Iran and bomb them? The former has never kept Iran from projecting power and the latter is much easier said than done. It’s likely a direct attack would not destroy their whole nuclear program since this is real life and not a video game.

What’s worked against Iran the last 50 is very un-Populist: play hardball, but stay open to diplomacy; strengthen regional partnerships; jump on opportunities as they arise. Iran is currently weaker than it’s ever been in our lifetimes, unable to easily pull strings in Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq and left on its own by Russia.
Wrong. Sanctioning Iran and actually ENFORCING the sanctions worked extremely well under Trump 1. Iran is weaker because its proxies have been taken off the board by Israel. Also Israel has been bombing Iran. Hard power works.

Nuclear deals and cash do not.

but who supports Israel with cash, gear, and political cover? Who supported the Syrian rebels and Kurds who finished the job? Who balances the divergent interests of Turkey and Israel? The US does.

Sorry if it doesn’t fit into a populist narrative but it was old school coalition building across several administrations that finally boxed Iran in.

I don’t think you know what populist means. Israel accomplished what it did largely in spite of the last two Democratic administrations. Biden who would talk out of both sides of his mouth and withhold weapons and Obama who was straight up hostile.

HZB had been decapitated before the fall of Assad and the cutoff of their supply route. It remains to be seen if the fall of Assad will actually even be a good thing.

Coalition building is correct though. The Abraham accords are the first real Middle Eastern coalition to put to rest the technocratic, overly-academic, moronic notion that the Palestinian statehood must be solved before Israel can work with other Arab states.

Democratic foreign policy of the last two administrations can not and should not take any credit for a weakened Iran. They absolutely ****ed the Middle East with a wrake. Idiots all of them.

I do know what populism is and everyone’s getting a crash course in it right now. It starts by trying to convince a populace that all of its institutions are out to get them and that only one person can save them…

Not that they’re out to get them. That they aren’t adequately representing their interests. Reform. Not revolution. And it doesn’t have to be authoritarian. So no you don’t know.

How does cutting wholesale qualify as reform?

Who thinks populism is authoritarian? So, ya, seems like I do know.

Uh no. It actually doesn’t. “Only one person can save them.” Your words

Youre imputing your bias to one type of populism as tho it’s the sole definition
