I think religion can be helpful in setting a moral compass but it doesn't in and of itself make anyone good or bad.Good people will act like good people, in the absence of religion.

Adding religion to the mix... the result seems to be to get good people to act like bad people, under the false promise of getting bad people to act like good people
Many people seem to miss the part about not judging others.
