An unfortunate but not unexpected clunker after the Duke game. This game went the opposite of what I predicted in the Prediction Thread. I was really hoping we'd get off to that good start, but it was the Wolverines who jumped out to the big early lead. We eventually settled in, but that early hole was too much to over come...
The Good: Juwan Morgan was the lone bright spot today- if not for his big game this would have been a lot uglier. He's been really good this year but he needs help, consistent help, from someone. Honorably mention goes to us playing the Wolverines pretty much to a draw after getting down early. Only 5 turnovers the rest of the game after the 5 quick ones early and we made a couple of runs, just couldn't sustain it long enough to get a lead.
The Bad: Shooting- from everywhere. So many missed shots from close range, couldn't hit a 3 (didn't take many, which I guess is good), and again under 65% from the FT line. At least Davis didn't miss any FTs... the bad news is he didn't take any! He has to get to the line but he wasn't on the floor much today and we didn't really run much through him. Part of that was Michigan's defense, which did what Duke should have on Wednesday- pack the lane and don't worry about defending the 3-point line.
The Ugly: Oh my that start. Down 14 before we even knew what hit us. Again, we played them even from that point on, which was somewhat encouraging, but it was disappointing to see the sloppy play and lack of energy. Avoid that and we likely have a game that goes down to the last few possessions.
I expect a better effort at home on Monday night against an Iowa team we should beat. Enjoy the rest of your weekend boys and girls.
