The dumbest call in the history of football

Re: Yeah, there were a lot of bodies in the vicinity.

Don't get me wrong - there's no way I pass on second down. But a pass there isn't a terrible play, just a bad call. The pass they chose elevated it from a bad call to a terrible one. I just don't get it at all - there are a huge number of deception plays that could have been used at the very least and they didn't even bother with that. It was a simple pick/slant for no reason with the plan for the receiver to catch the ball outside the endzone. The more I think about it the more stupid it becomes!

Look where Lynch is in that picture; look where Wilson is looking

there was no doubt where the play was going and NE knew it.

They didn't even use Lynch for a decoy.

Why not play action? Why not a roll out?

Isn't Seattle the #1 rushing team?

Watching that replay . . .

looks to me like the guy setting the pick could've spun out to the flat in the end zone and been all alone . . . like Brady's pass to Amendola earlier in the game.

I thought the call was a stupid one to begin with . . . but with a time out in their pocket? They were nuts to make the call they did.

I'm nowhere near being a baby boomer. In fact, my parents. . .

are baby boomers if that gives you an idea. Anyways, I haven't watched 2 seconds of baseball since the strike back in the 90s. I really only watch two sports, college basketball and the NFL. I'll watch a college football game if it's IU or if it's a "marquee" match up just because I know I'll be watching a few future NFL players.

I don't know if baseball will die, but I know lots of people who are either losing interest or have lost interest entirely.

Americans have been conditioned to have short attention spans and keeping up with a 162 game season is just getting to be too much to ask. At least when watching a 16 game NFL season pretty much every single game matters. In MLB you could have a 25 game winning or losing streak and you still can't be sure if it will matter.

Bingo

The old guys cannot grasp the fact that the younger generation has zero interest. Particularly in paying ridiculous amounts of money for season tickets.

Anecdotal evidence

Once the baby boomers start passing, there will be nobody left to support its boring remnants.

I used to watch all of the time. So did eight of my good friends. Now, none of us do. You couldn't pay me to go if I'm not sitting in the Boxed Suites.

Not wrong. Learn to read.

I said look at it by decades, and the decades of the 2000-2010 is by far greater than any previous decade, by alot. And in your goofy chart that you think means anything, the last 10 years are 10 of the 12 best years of all time. Do you even know how to read a graph?

Ummm..... maybe not. Minnesota at IU in 2013.....

IU is driving for the winning TD, or at least a tying FG at the end of the game.

IU throws a swing pass BEHIND the QB, the pass is botched, both Defender and IU RB (soon-to-be first round pick) stare at the ball for a second, Defender reaches down, picks up the ball, and gets possession.

Game over. Minnesota wins and goes on to a bowl. IU loses a game it needed to finish 6-6 and a possible bowl.

Now THAT was a dumb call. Maybe not THE dumbest. But pretty damn dumb.

I was at that game

Don Noort had his best single/single: 8points and 8 boards filling in for Downing after the latter had to sit because of foul troubles.

Turner got a lot of abuse from the fans and let us all know how much he loved us.

Ignoring demographics?

By doing that, you are not even refuting my thesis. Talk about failure to read. And you wonder why you are a low level financial planner.

Haha

Will I see you at Atlantis in a couple of months for our company's top producers?

Dude

You really need to grow up a little. Just because you have to work for a family practice should not make you so bitter and cynical.

Family practice?

Doesn't even make sense.

Don't get mad at me because I am calling The Atlantis what it is.

Oh, I'm not

I am quite sure that the top 3% of advisors of our firm (roughly 7000 FA's) will have a great time there.

I'm sure you will

It looks much better than status quo. Congrats on your success.

Re: Look where Lynch is in that picture; look where Wilson is looking

What you and everyone else says seems logical but I really think the time left on the clock with one time out played a factor in not using play action.

as for running Lynch....he was 1-5 from the 1 yard line for the year.

NE knew what was coming.

Lynch was 1-5 for the year from the 1 yard line

I didn't know that fact when I posted the post I am replying too. I found this out last night and they showed each play from the 1 where they handed the ball to him.

I would have done the roll out iwth Willson....dump the pass, run for a TD or the sideline.

Evidently that 24 seconds played a major factor.....

The OC said they called it to stop the clock

Pete Carroll says they ran it because of the change in the defensive package subbed in.
