The Dem candidate in 2028 for president AOC. Book it

The system is built to make a viable third party almost impossible. Plus, I always wonder how much of what people say would carry over to the ballot box.
Probably the biggest practical reason why a third party wouldn’t work is that most people don’t pay attention to the candidates until close to the election so they’re not even going to necessarily realize there’s a serious third-party candidate.

I disagree with this. Perot made a large impact well over 30 years ago, well prior to the internet/instant and unfettered access/information age we find ourselves in today. These days it's nearly impossible to avoid politics in all manner of your life, even when making a concerted effort to unplug. And with election "seasons" starting earlier it seems to be more up time than down time for it. In this last cycle if a Joe Manchin or Bernie Sanders or Tulsi Gabbard or any number of candidates had run as a Third Party, the people would've known them and they would've been a serious threat, at least insomuch as to make a large impact on who would win even if they didn't. Hells Bells, you had Democrats crying foul after 2016 and during 2024 over Jill Stein's Green Party runs and both sides shitting bricks over RFK's 2024 run.

It isn't a lack of knowledge, instead it's fear. People have been conditioned to believe that voting third party or write in is at best a wasted vote or worse a vote for the other guy. That fear is baked into the duopolistic system, and the greatest impediment to a third party gaining traction.

I think that’s only because it’s early and most people don’t follow politics closely. The next democratic presidential nominee probably isn’t as highly visible to the general electorate yet, but I think they’ll start working on that soon.
What policies would said person advocate?

I think more moderate things Democrats used to run on like more access to healthcare, building the middle class, jobs and infrastructure. That’s all 30,000 foot view stuff and would need to workshopped for the ‘28 election, but if Democrats could focus less on stuff that paints them into a “liberal woke” corner, they’d beat whoever the MAGA successor is. Especially Vance. He’s not getting the Trump/Musk stink off him.

Not unless Reagan Republicans all of sudden become pro choice, pro gay rights and drop the trickle down econ nonsense.
The Reagan Republicans should take the position of the vast majority of the country and be OK with abortion in the first trimester (up to something like 15 to 20 weeks) and allow abortion after that ONLY in the cases that it's necessary for the physical health of the mother or death of the baby, especially in the third trimester. Pro-gay rights? Gay marriage is the law of the land now and the Reagan Republicans wouldn't need to do more on this other than ignore the issue. Live and let live. Replace trickle down with good old fashioned Republican fiscal responsibility. Reduce spending and tax only as necessary to promote pro-growth and bring in sufficient tax revenue necessary to fund an efficient right-sized government.

She’d be great to date for a few months. Could talk her into doing anything. I thought you were liberal!!!!
Nah, I'm more mutt than anything else. Very much issue specific. Voted republican my whole life until I heard Sarah Palin speak when she was the ill fated running mate for McCain.

"Q. Governor Palin, how would you go about handling peace talks between the Israelis and Palestinians?

A. Well in Alaska, umm. I read some magazines.....um. You know.... COMMUNISTS are destroying our country"

I did watch Naiiln' Palin tho--an ininitely smarter person played Palin in that movie.

AOC over Palin at this point. Ron Dugay has destroyed Palin. Also, she looks like her post divorce lifestyle has been to go through a couple of packs of Marlboro unfiltered, and lives off pringles and beef jerky
