Another game where it felt like IU was actually getting a few of the breaks it needed to win the game. The opponent's star QB gets carted off the field in the 4th quarter when they're down 3. The referees are giving IU the benefit of every call. Yet our squad turns the ball over three times and gives up 17 on those TOs.
The Indy Star had this article teed up for the loss, recounting some of the toughest IU losses over the last 20 years or so - https://www.indystar.com/story/spor...sses-most-history-worst-20-years/69484773007/. I started thinking about all the others where IU had a late lead they wound up giving away - the Coleman missed backward pass vs MN, blowing the 25-point lead vs Rutgers, bowl losses vs Duke and Tennessee.
Is there another program that consistently finds ways to lose vs finding ways to win. The three come-from-behind wins earlier this year were so unlike the program, we almost couldn't enjoy them. Today's game feels more like the program we know and love that refuses to love us back.
I don't know. I'm starting to become convinced there are some programs, franchises, etc. that are simply cursed to find ways to fail.
