It appears the GOP in Wisconsin is refusing to go away quietly. Despite getting run in all statewide elections, the heavily gerrymandered legislature is attempting to subvert the will of the people by instigating a lame duck screw job.

Astute readers may be thinking, “Where have I seen such undemocratic shenanigans before?” The answer of course in the North Carolina GOP. This is the #newGOP at work. It’s only about power, to hell with legitimate power.

This is a good lesson in the fact that our freedom and democracy does not actually reside in documents and offices, but rather in political norms and our collective respect for them. Democracy is a tenuous thing. If you respect it, it's better to lose and fight another day than it is to subvert the will of the people.

Plus don't forget the Kenyan Muslim socialist facist sexist racist illegitimate Prez Obama, who just so happens to be black.[

You said it Bro not me look at what you say vs just spewing crap you like to think is true

Same thing happening in Michigan

Yep. Same party too. The GOP strategy has shifted to ruling as the minority party. They know they are losing the demographic battle. They have resorted to extreme partisan gerrymandering and now simple power grabs.

The Wisconsin GOP is arguing that this power grab is actually a response to the mandate provided to them by the voters, via the extremely gerrymandered map. That’s rich.

Political shenanigans are one thing; this is beyond the pale. I normally don't like seeing a lot of hyperbolic language used to describe such things -- "coup", "power grab", "subverting the will of the people", etc. -- but in these cases it's not going overboard IMO.

For me, it all goes back to McConnell and Garland. Once they were able to get away with that, anything becomes possible.

I agree. I’m surprised this hasn’t received as much national attention. This is very dangerous stuff. In Michigan, the GOP is trying to stamp out measures the people voted to enact via state wide referenda. That is patently undemocratic.

I’ve always said if a republican is accusing someone else of doing something/anything, it’s a safe bet the republican is doing it.

Step One: Engage in voter suppression to make it more difficult for likely Democrats to vote.

Step Two: Gerrymander districts so your candidates can receive less than half the statewide vote but still win almost two-thirds of the seats.

Step Three: In the unlikely event you lose, change the rules so the winners can’t govern.

Modern Republicans aren’t merely anti-Democrat. They’re anti-democratic. Add to this the white nationalism, the contempt for objective reality, and the pig ignorant tribalism.

Decent people should not vote for Republicans. At all. For anything.

This is what incipient fascism looks like.

Or maybe Hillary Clinton?

What exactly does HRC have to do with MINORITY (Gerrymandered) Legislatures (as in PA,WI and MI) passing unconstitutional measures to subvert the will of the majority of voters in their states?

We know party affiliation in PA favors Dems by at least a million votes, and once the Congressional Districts were redrawn and made more representative the effects were staggering. The Gerrymandered House was 13-5 GOP,and after eliminating the gerrymander the situation basically reversed as the midterms ended up 12-6 Dems.

PA, like both MI and WI also elected Dems to the Senate and as Governors. These little kingmaker gerrymandered GOP legislatures are without a doubt trying to thwart the rights of the majority of voters. But I ask again, exactly what does HRC (who got 3 Million MORE popular votes that Trump the Clown) have to do with Gerrymandering?
