LOL I laughed at that too.Did you say Archie is ‘teaching them shot selection and how to play team defense’?
Yeah, that's a weak class and certainly not one that will propel IU to the top of the conference. More mediocrity.Pretty sure they've all fallen out of the top 100 of late, so that's what we should be celebrating? Butler/Dayton/Miami of Ohio level talent? Archie better pray that TJD is not one and done or his time here is up after next year
Just curious, but on what basis was miller not a top choice for yourself?
I totally agree but some will tell you that you cannot even begin to judge until after four years.
Right and then it will be 5 years then 6 years. What you see is what you get it's not going to get better without a major overhaul of the current roster, I'm sorry but 3 and 4 star players are not going to hang banners in Assembly hall. Go get some real players.People mention 4 years when there is a major rebuild with a foundation for the future being set. People like to watch the development of a recruiting class or two. But, have we really started a rebuild process? Who are the key players that Miller has brought in that lay the foundation for the rebuild? I’m not talking about 1-2 year stopgap players, like Romeo, TJD, Fitzner or Brunk.
it seems to me that miller is doing everything he can to be competitive now with his upperclassmen (those crean players).
This isn’t a serious rebuild that will take time. This isn’t a rebuild at all yet. It is trying to take an experienced team, plug holes with short term fixes, and win now.
Indiana does not have big football money $ to pay for a top tier superstar basketball coachI feel like Archie is over his head at Indiana. Not his fault he will be fine at the second tier programs aka Crean. But going forward Indiana must bring a proven coach not a flash in the pan coach.
Let's just give him 10 years and call it good. Some of you act like he was left with a team of 10 intramural players. I thought giving crean the three year pass was bad when he inherited zero players but this is almost worse. Archie was left with plenty of talent but the apathy is just amazing to me.People mention 4 years when there is a major rebuild with a foundation for the future being set. I trust IU has more money than you might think. In 2018 IU spent more money on recruiting than any other school in the country. $739,722. By way of comparison Virginia spent $281,000. IU, despite the naysayers and excuse-makers, has the infrastructure to be an elite program - we just haven't found our coach.Indiana does not have big football money $ to pay for a top tier superstar basketball coach
Simply he as not in a power conference. I wanted a guy who had proven he could win at the highest levels. The big East is superior to the Atlantic Ten. So far he seems over his head to meJust curious, but on what basis was miller not a top choice for yourself?
Agreeded Miller did nothing that John Groce and many, many other mid major flamouts did before moving to the adult table. Look at Shaka Smart went to the final four now sucking -ss. I would trade Lil Archie for Hoiberg right now.Simply he as not in a power conference. I wanted a guy who had proven he could win at the highest levels. The big East is superior to the Atlantic Ten. Yes, that analogy works. The difference is that Archie uses the potty standing up, which bodes well for his potential. It also gives us the ability to evaluate him and make decisions by the fourth grade. To be fair that is like saying crean couldn’t get potty trained in 1st 2nd or 3rd grade. Neither could Archie, but he only wet the bed twice a week instead of 4 times.
Mack was my number one choice hands down. I was shocked they did no go after him.
Football is not equal to basketball.
But Matt Rhule is coaching Baylor tonight in Sugar Bowl.
Temple
Yr 1: 2-10
Yr 2: 6-6
Yr 3: 10-4
Hired by Baylor
Yr 1: 1-11
Yr 2: 7-6
Yr 3: 11-2
Thats a sport w almost 100 guys on a roster!
Basketball only takes 1-3 players to dramatically change a program...
Take to Archie’s Hoosiers...
Ive seen little to no improvement - thats an opinion I hold.
The fact is there has been little to no change in win/loss records...w much of Year 3 left to play out.
Baylor could see what they were hiring 3 years into the Temple job...NFL teams are now seeing what he brings 3 years into the Baylor job...
3 years into the Indiana job...would Archie be hired by an ‘upgrade’ school to IU, back to the mid-majors, or to a low D1 level?

Everything I heard said they put in a call to him. That said, he took over a complete roster left by Matta. Crean had no idea how to put together a roster and left IU in a situation where if they had "encouraged" players to leave, Archie's 2nd year we wouldn't be eligible for the tourney. Oh, and as much as I love Morgan, I'll take Wesson at the 5 over him any day of the week (we won't even talk about the rest of the roster). Now, at the 4 or 3, I would happily take Morgan....that said, there is no comparison between the roster Crean left and the one Mata left. Same for the Pitino recruits Mack just added a few grad transfers to. You can't win in the B10 without size....period...

IU spends an inordinate amount of money chartering aircraft. Part of it is IU’s relatively rural location (no local scheduled air service), part of it is flexibility and convenience. It’s extremely inefficient and ripe for deserved criticism.IU has spent this much for years. I honestly don't understand how a program can even spend that much money. Anyone know the particulars relating to this amount? It is at least several times what most comparable programs spend.
Also, didn't IU sports make over a $20 million profit recently? IU has the $$ to hire anyone they want that is willing. I'm still with Archie though.

John Groce has a better record than Archie at Illinois his first 3 yearsthe APR thing is a complete myth. Dove deep into it a year or so ago. They put u on warning first and try to work with you before any post season bans happen. Secondly moore al and smith had not been enrolled in school at the time and wouldn’t even have counted toward it if they did not come. Nothing would have happened to IU. Compete BS made up to lay an excuse. Shocking for IU I know.
