The next to last week of July was a difficult one for TheHoosier.com. On Thursday, July 25, Stu Jackson told us he was leaving to take an internship with the Los Angeles Rams and could only give us a one-week notice. We understood, thanked him for all his efforts and wished him well.

Two days before, on July 23, Jon Sauber informed us that he had accepted a job as a sports reporter with his hometown newspaper, The Centre Daily Times in State College, Pennsylvania.

Jon is a Penn State grad, recently became engaged to a girl from his hometown and wanted to be closer to his grandmother. He gave us a two-week notice and will start his new job tomorrow. We understood, thanked him for all his efforts and wished him well.

Jon only worked at The Hoosier for eight months, and in that short time he did a terrific job of covering basketball recruiting for us. We were amazed with how quickly he built relationships with prospects, their families and their coaches, and impressed with his knowledge and passion for basketball.

We are building a new team at the site. That started with Mike Singer, who is doing a great job of covering football recruiting. We are pursuing some top talent to cover basketball recruiting and should know something by the end of the week.

We are looking for a beat writer to cover football and basketball and have interviewed some excellent prospects. In the meantime, DJ Fezler, a student at IU and our intern this year, is helping us cover football practices.

Completing our staff may take a couple of weeks. Just know that we have read all your comments, we know what we need to do and we are “recruiting” some terrific candidates.

I wish the site owner would give these hardworking journalists some creative freedoms and not forcing them into content quotas. The site won’t be able to keep great talent if they can’t be passionate about their work. They are forced to put quantity over quality which causes them to burnout and lose interest. I would have loved to see what Stu and Jordan could have done had they been given any sort of creative freedoms.

It appears you have a retention issue.

A Platinum Premium forum is the answer to your problems, but you have to believe. The former proprietor didn’t, so he took refuge in the dead of the night (Robert Irsay, anyone?).

This place went to hell. And I blame you being drunk as the reason.

Well, my son is a sport journalist and a huge IU Football supporter. What is the pay and any benefits? He just signed a lease so he would need to commute for a while.

Pennsylvania really is a beautiful state. We drove into a different section of the country near our town and there was this scene of nature that was just breathtaking. Jon will have a lot of good nature scenes to see. May the Lord bless him.

You need solid hires with contacts. I would suggest pursuing some local writing talent, preferably a former student, and pay what is needed. Don’t go cheap or you will continue the decline.

That was super funny a decade ago when that movie came out. My mom referenced the same scene as being funny a few weeks ago! Maybe you can use it a few 100 more times to get your laughs in!
What’s super funny now?

Pick up a mirror.

Look into it.

Take a picture.

Grab your sides, because U R N 4 A laugh riot.

Your posts on beer years ago were super funny. I miss reading those late night. You were so serious!

But to answer your question.... Your lack of basketball knowledge is supper funny. The other super funny thing that comes to mind is your denial about drinking, but you are getting old, old alcoholics aren’t as funny.

Yep, you are the epitome of basketball knowledge, Mr Elite 8.

ROTFLMAO

When you realize how dumb your posts make you appear, you have a chance.

Until then, well .....

You just can’t help yourself, can you?

I really enjoy this place there are a lot of spot on posters here. The conversation is always great. Even the toothless redneck sister loving jokes bring a smile to my face
