Thad Matta

i mean before they hired woody. if i remember correctly, he was a leading candidate for the job and was asked to take a physical which he supposedly failed.
Didn't he also leave OSU because he was basically physically unable to continue? Left one job and failed a physical to get another high D1 job. Doesn't sound like BS to me. I think he had severe back issues that ultimately were treated and got better. He looked broken down and in pain from what I remember at OSU at the end.

every player was gambling when I was out there. I’m sure gallo thought it was an exhibition game again. Hope he swam with the dolphins! 🐬
But when you were there, it was an exhibition, right? Two different things in my mind: gambling while at an exhibition game, vs in season. Used to be a thing called curfews and I bet still are at places like UCONN!

His back is a mess. He's got the drop foot thing going, which is why his gait is so awkward.

Are we talking about the same Thad Matta that's lost to Austin Peay and North Dakota State this year already? Lost to Houston by 28.

I mean, at least he also lost to Wisconsin, so he'd fit right in.

Oh that’s what I’m saying. He treated it as the exact same thing it sounds like.

Butler should never have dropped those two buy games. And Houston was a disaster. But they have 3 good wins—SMU at home and Northwestern and ranked Mississippi State at a neutral site.

That’s with probably with 1/3 of IU’s NIL resources. The question is how would Matta do at IU v. Woodson?

Hooray!

No disrespect to the late Robert Montgomery Knight, but I'm pretty impressed with his .714 winning percentage, 24-13 NCAA Tournament record, 2 FFs, 4 EEs, 6SSs, 5 B1G regular season Championships and 4 Tourney Championships
I agree with you completely. OSU was THE B1G school while Matta was there. I remember OSU going on the long run of being undefeated one season. IU vs OSU was on CBS on NYE night. They were always the team the B1G was competing with.

Be it his coach, his recruiting, his ability to hire assistants, it doesn't matter what he didn't do well. All that matters is that SOMETHING was working that provided a consistent end result of winning. I don't understand why some people find reasons not to trust outcomes but prefer to dream big instead about non-proven coaches.
