Beard is the hot coaching flavor of the year, and deservedly so. But wasn't Shaka Smart the flavor of the year when he left VCU for Texas? According to you the situation at Texas has come full circle, and they should replace the old flavor of the year with the newest flavor.

I never meant this to be in depth analysis. It just struck me as unusual sequence of events, should Texas go to the well a second time and get Beard as their Coach.
Beard is amazing. He was at his mid major and he's been above sensational so far at TT putting together a roster from basically left overs and getting them to play together.
Beyond impressive.
And he's a Knight guy which automatically would give our older folk raging boners from that alone.
However, he's a Knight guy and there is no way in hell Knight would bless him taking over here. No way in hell.
Beard will have pretty much any program that wants him...but I think he stays in Texas (either continues at TT or goes to Austin).
Someone like Beard is the only kind of coach that you make a drastic move for right now....and if you do you better as an AD have him locked and loaded via back channels or you could set the program back for another decade.

Beard seems like a good guy and the real deal. I’m not sure IU would be willing to pay what it takes to pry him away (plus what it takes to send Archie away).
I think he stays in Texas, probably at Tech. Just two years ago he accepted the job at UNLV, but two weeks later, left to go back and take the job at Tech. Apparently he has three young daughters that live in the area. I also cannot see someone who gave Knight so much respect heading to IU.
