First the bad news -- Every single player was cut yesterday EXCEPT Covington.

Now the good news -- Tegray, Simmie, Wynn and McCray all played EXTREMELY well in preseason and most likely would have been kept if the rosters allowed 55 players instead of 53. It was really that close for all 4 of them.

Tegray, Simmie, and McCray will all be signed to practice squads in the next 24 hours, so they will be earning weekly checks for $7,600 as long as they remain on the PS.

I am not sure if Shane Wynn is eligible for the practice squad, as the NFL limits it to 2 seasons, and I don't know the exact details of his PS history in the league.

Rashard Fant was basically injured the entire training camp for the Bears, and was cut with an injury settlement yesterday. Does anyone know what the injury is? There is absolutely nothing in the media for the past month that defines his actual injury.

Lastly, Griffin Oakes got a brief chance with Tampa Bay in April/May and I have heard nothing since, and his Twitter page shows nothing. That kid is the ONLY kicker in Big Ten HISTORY to be named kicker of the year TWICE. I am shocked he wasn't in a training camp somewhere.

Does anyone know why?

I love to see these guys making their dreams come true!!

I expect McCray to eventually make a name for himself. He had to have been the most egregiously, continuously, HELD Guy in the Big Ten last fall... If he gets any kind of routinely fair calls in the NFL he should have a fine career (in my opinion)...

One of the beat writers for the Chiefs has said that McCray was the best edge rusher in camp. And he wasn't even an undrafted free agent. He got an invite to camp after attending a large tryout for rookies. Great story.
