Coach has only had "1" recruiting class. He is trying to fit a lot of CTC's recruits into his system which is totally polar opposite of his coaching style and trying to convert them. Obviously this is not working well at all. His 1st recruiting class are all freshman and are being ask to be far more than they should be. Hind site says he probably should have ask many to transfer or no thanks in year one but he decided not to. I will allow him to have at least 4 recruiting classes before giving up on him as a coach. If CAM has a fault it is that he is far more patient than I would ever be with some of the previous coaches recruits. Outside of Morgan and Durham none has shown the ability or willingness to being a part of CAM's philosophy and should move on.

It does not take 4 recruiting classes in basketball to be competitive. So tired of hearing that shit.

So, how many does it take?

Depends on the coach. I would say if you are in year 4 and are still struggling, you are not the guy for the job. 2 recruiting classes means you will have had guys on your team for 3 years. You will have your sophomores and freshmen and the previous guy's juniors (who have been coached exclusively by you) and seniors who will have 3 years of your coaching as well. If you are not a competitive team by that point, you got a problem.

Archie has one class. We should have seen some improvement this year. If this shit show continues into year 3, game over. But it does not take 5 ****ing years to be competitive for the high end coaches. And a guy drawing a check like Miller has to be considered high end.

So tired of everyone expecting instant gratification i.e. 1 year of recruiting and IU should be in the final four, if not fire the coach!

No one is asking for a Final Four. Sunshine pumpers always roll out ridiculous strawmen like this..."what, you think we were going to win another banner this year? Your expectations are so ridiculous" No people were expecting a team and program that appears to be making progress. This team is regressing. If we started out like this and then finished like we played in the Marquette game, then you might have an argument that things are on the upswing. As it is now, we are circling the drain. Last year we started out pathetically but got better as the year went on. People were annoyed at another lost year but they understood. This year we added a guy who everyone thought was one of the all time Indiana HS greats to a team that was 4 or 5 games from being tournament eligible. Rational people could expect a tournament type of team. Instead we have a team getting blown out at home with less than stellar effort.

I’d like to see some improvement over the season and at the bare minimum, EFFORT. Plenty of coaches have turned programs around in 2-3 seasons. Painter did it. And as bad as we are now, next year looks to be even worse. A lack of success will make recruiting very difficult which makes the rebuild even harder.

See this is where you’re making it abundantly clear that you don’t know your head from your ***. No one’s expectation was that IU should be in the final four or win the Big Ten this year. We just wanted to finish in the top half of the league and make the tournament. That’s a low bar.

The core angst amongst those fans bright enough to see it is not the poor shooting or even getting beaten by better athletes. It’s the lack of effort. That starts with the coach. He allows this culture. Players stand around. Don’t scrap. They stand around with their thumbs up their asses and the coach allows it. Archie was a failed experiment.

USC is a big time football school .
Who struggled last year..
Have two top #20 player's for 2019.
Indiana will recruit just fine.

I am as disappointed as you are and agree with the fact this team has not improved. This team was going forward until Rob Phinisee's injury which led to Green getting increased minutes on the court. Then we had 4 losses with him leading the point. Most notably the Nebraska game. Then he is suspended for 3 games right before the Northwestern game. I call this a problem that is staring everyone right in the eyes. Let see what happens with this from here.

We need to stop with those worn out labels: “football school” “basketball school.”

Time after time in the modern era, these tags have proven to have no meaning. They are loose, meaningless terms thrown out by out-of-touch fanbases. Virtually the entire Big Ten conference values football as much as basketball and those that have been dominating the conference are balanced in their major men’s sports. They have high expectations in both. Guess who is the only one that supposedly thinks they have the trademark on basketball and where exactly are they right now?

It should only take 2 years to get the players you need. No excuses He will have Romeo, Hunter, Thompson, Anderson, Fitzner, Phinisee, Jackson, Brooks?, Forrester, Franklin thats 10 players he has recruited.

So you must have a top management position overseeing a lot of top level employees. I can tell because you use *** with such tact.

I have been around IU BB since I was 7 years old which was before RMK was coaching at IU. I was born and raised in this town (Bloomington) so I suggest you think before making such off the wall comments in the future because the only one you are embarrassing is yourself.

Chris Mack has pieced together a team with two grad transfers in a starting PG from Sanford, a backup PG from Richmond. Sure he had some decent players returning but nothing better than IU’s players. Mack has ranked wins over Michigan State, @ UNC, and N.C. State.

Fitzner will be gone next year, he will graduate. Romeo could be gone, assuming his stock doesn't drop. Hunter and Thompson hopefully will be healthy enough to return. SO at best he will have 8-9, worst he will have 4-5. But that will be this time next year at best. Until then we are just blowing hot air.

Didn't he lose to IU and CAM this year?

Yes he did but that was in December and his team has drastically improved. The players are buying into his system and it’s showing. He has the Cards 5-1 in the ACC with probable wins over Pitt on Saturday and Wake Forest next week.

How do Hunter and Thompson perform against live competition? I cannot seem to find their stats?

That’s right. It’s all on paper right now. About as much guarantee there as the one made earlier this season that Fitzgerald would be our outside scoring threat. How did that work out?

I wouldn't worry, relief is on the way, It's a guarantee that the Hoosiers won't lose to Rutgers.

What color is the sky in your world?

There was nothing outlandish or off the wall about what I said. You’re in the one in love with hyperbole here. Non one expected final fours. The expectation was simply to improve and to make the NCAA tournament. A low bar that Archie hasn’t crossed. This isn’t even disputable.

you meant to say ‘we had 4 bad losses as the competitive part of conference play began...?’

Combine Crean's recruits with the fact that half our team are or have been injured this year, and what exactly do think the results should be? Who do you really believe would have done better? I get being upset, when IU loses it messes up my whole day! Bottomline this is the coach we've got, and I'm going to support the program as it is right now. Now if 2 years from now we are talking about the same stuff then there's a problem! Besides at this point great coaches aren't beating down the door to come coach here lol. I personally believe Miller is the best coach we've had since Knoght. He's already recruiting better than anyone else has, I believe that will start showing up in our win loss category next year. At least that's my opinion

I did not expect a banner this year. I did expect this team to COMPETE with all, improve each game and be a tough out come March. I was wrong, very wrong.

An apt visual representation of our season:

Beilen was 21-14 9-9 in conference and won an NCAA game his second year at Michigan. Indiana will be lucky to do that next year.

Stop cherry picking. Look at the rest of the resume. He wouldn’t survive Bloomington with that record.

I don’t want Archie fired at all, however I think there should be reasonable expectations for year 3. If we don’t make tourney by year 4 what will you say? More time?
