my Syracuse pre-game story goes back to the 1987 FF:
the Sunday prior to championship Monday was cold and rainy in New Orleans.
but that did not prevent our group from heading to a very crowded Pat O'Briens in the Quarter for refreshments.
out back on the patio, my friend from Anderson IN casually responds to a Syracuse fan that his assessment of how they were going to drill IU was not factual. rather than an interesting verbal exchange of the game, Syracuse fans went into throw-down mode. we were badly out-numbered as their mob surged (think 300 Spartans). but to our relief, IU fans appeared from all directions. cooler heads prevailed and no punches were thrown.
i think the throw down was averted because everyone involved had a $15 hurricane drink in hand and that would have been a big sacrifice.
for those Hoosier fans that came to our side....Thank You.
