Wonder if that will give us a 2nd shot at that Big Time Wide Receiver (Jon Anthony Hall from Fishers, IN) we lost to them this past recruiting cycle...

We might be in the mix for one or two of their current starters too...

Our QB could (possibly) provide some insight on their Defensive personnel; he played against them last Fall...

Their MLB (Rose) is from Ohio... I don't know if he's Big Ten quality or not... It looks like this will be his first year starting full time...

Their SS Edwards sounds like a clone of The Terminator..., he was in on 80 tackles last Fall (46 solo)...

On their Offense, along with Hall..., these guys sound interesting... :

Their back up LT, Fisher, is from TN and is intelligent... and their starting RG Simione Pale only gave up one sack over 12 games...

I think DE is the biggest need followed by linebacker for depth (or someone better than what we have at WLB. Stanford playing a 3-4 doesn't have a ton of guys that can help except at MLB with Rose, but we have Fisher there. The 3 down linemen are basically 1 NT and 2 3T--a misfit for our needs.

I don't know if the Caden Curry ship has sailed or not, but he's in line at OSU to start and that may spell doom to him coming to IU.

Well, a good linebacker enters from Stanford. Or may be an edge rusher.

ESPN Link - Bailey Portal

Stanford outside linebacker David Bailey entered the transfer portal Friday, sources told ESPN.
The 6-foot-3, 250-pound pass rusher entered the portal as a graduate transfer and is expected to be one of the top players available during the upcoming spring transfer window.

Right, he's already being highly sought after.

You talk about a program that has fallen on hard times, you look no further than Stanford football. David Shaw had that program rolling for 8 straight years. Several double digit win seasons. They have had four straight 3-9 seasons an no bowl since 2018. They aren’t getting players anymore. New GM there, Andrew Luck, has his work cut out for him helping to land a new coach. The portal and NIL may have sunk them.

Interesting decision by Andrew Luck. Hiring Frank Reich as interim coach for one season only.

I guess he's All In on the Portal and has blown off at least two years worth of HS recruiting...

It does make sense in the context of his wanting to keep together their staff for next Fall...; and that gives him the breathing room to conduct a legitimate coaching search from early September onwards to early December...

Luck is very intelligent but he's got a really deep hole to climb out of at that school with that program...

Why would the staff stay?

Hiring season for these assistants is long passed. Not much opportunity for them to hook on anywhere new until next December. Some may also have contracts that are more than one year, so if they were to walk away now, not only do they forfeit next season’s money, but the following season’s as well. Knowing they likely won’t be retained after the new/permanent regime is named after the season, if they have a 2 year deal, they’ll get paid for that too.

Maybe. But things change going into the summer and all of these guys were just passed over to hire a pretty lousy interim head coach.

I bet a few look for opportunities with more certainty in the next few months.
