Play Hoetzel over Stan.
Stan has seriously regressed and brings nothing to the table this season.

It would certainly seem like he regressed. He is just not making...

smart plays. Not sure what is going on with him, but he was playing much better last year.

Stan has also had some good stretches of basketball for IU. Maybe pressing this year trying to get more playing time. We need him to play better for a successful finish to this season.

I think it's pretty simple: 1) his confidence in his shot is, well, shot

(never heard of someone switching shooting hands), and 2) the book is out on him from other teams. Last year I think people played him more straight up, but this year they are just sagging way off allowing his shot and it allows defenders to better stop what has always been his best scoring method; ie. drives. The big question I have is why the heck he continues to shoot 3s or is allowed to.

Problem is...

He lost his confidence... you can see CTC trying to get him opportunities... I think Stan just is trying to hard to make up for his mistakes and trying to have big plays to get back to the stature he had as a freshman ... not working... he needs to learn to be a true role player...

Re: We get it

Are you kidding me...The guy made a comment about his basketball skills and he was spot on. This isn't personal it's basketball. I'm sure Stan is great guy but he isn't getting it done on the court. If you see something different please enlighten us!

Re: We get it

It's been all he's posting about for days, if it was his first post about Stan I wouldn't have said it...but he's been saying the same thing on multiple posts.

I am not going to defend Stan's offensive play this season. He is certainly struggling in that department this season and in my opinion it's because teams know he has no jumper so they don't have to respect it. Tough to drive that way. However, Stan is a really good defender and he does provide a lot of energy on that end, something a lot of our guys don't do. So to say he brings nothing to the table isn't fair, he's a good defender and is tough. When he comes in he either guards the other teams best guard or gets stuck on a big because we don't have any bigs and he usually does a good job on either. A hell of a lot better than Zeisloft, JB, and Hoetzel (whom he mentioned) on D that is for sure.

What I get tired of is everyone assuming he's such a selfish guy. It probably has something to do with his failed drug test, but it's in the past. All it really takes is some good play and people will forget about that, see troy williams for an example. Look, he definitely wants to see more minutes and when you come in for a couple at a time you have to try to prove your worth and force the issue a little bit. Anybody that plays defense as hard as him I would never call selfish, and maybe just maybe he'll start finishing at the hoop again and be an asset on offense like last season. We could use the change of pace he can provide.

Without Stan, we would only have Zeisloft as a backup

We need Stan to play, but we need the Stan from last year. He has the ability to defend when he wants to. The down side is he is trying to turn every touch into a drive to the basket. He was successful last year, but it isn't working now.

He is a much better defender than Zeisloft, we just can't trust him to make the right play on offense. That has put him behind Zeisloft in the depth chart.

Any development he attempted in the off-season must have been focused on shooting right handed. That was a big mistake. His negative drug test and suspension put him behind. With RoJo and Blackmon, he didn't get a chance to prove himself like Williams did. Williams and Stan are similar players. Athletic, raw players without a jump shot. Troy has gotten better on decision making with playing time. Stan has not had as much time on the court. That could change if RoJo is banged up.
