I remember reading someplace that the new stadium was initially named “17 Street Stadium” for a few years prior to “Memorial”.

Hope one of the upgrades will be to add handrails to the stadium stairs for us old folks. lol

Expand the east side and replace bleachers with real seats. Capacity would likely stay the same but we would be more comfortable

Seats would likely reduce capacity but, to minimize that, it could be targeted in certain areas.

Are there any upgrades being done before the start of the upcoming season?
Obviously there won’t be any construction done but maybe the concourse area or maybe the pressbox?
I’d like to see the end zones and state map get brightened up.
The state map has always seemed out of proportion,maybe redo it and make it bigger?
Not earth shattering stuff but I think it I think it would look better on tv.

I think there will be upgrades, but nothing has been announced yet.

On a somewhat similar note,it wil be interesting to see the attendance for the first three games.
I’m sure by the Illinois game it will be a sell out,I’d be surprised if the first three games are.

Some guesses:

The opener sells out, people will be excited for the season to start and to see our new players.

Games #2 and #3, around 50K.

Assuming we are at least decent, the conference games sell out. I heard the number of season tickets sold is up 40% so far.

We’ll see.

It would be great to see the momentum of the attendance continue this coming season.

My hope is when we are in year 6 of the Cig era, we start our 2-year home and away games vs. Notre Dame. I know our schedule may be daunting by then but as we know, we're never daunted.....so I really want to keep them on the schedule, but anything can and certainly will change. Including the fact that I think it's more like ND will have no choice but to be in a conference if they want to play with the big boys, come 2029.
