Sparty injuries

I am not a diehard fan of Archie, but I am not going to ignore reality. Archie coached last year with a roster he had nothing to do with except keeping the players and recruits signed from leaving. This is his first year with his own recruits.

One recruiting class isn't going to solve the terrible team that Crean left. It will take 2 more good recruiting classes to get us on even footing with the league. After Archie's third class, I will make a judgement on the progress.

In the meantime, I will be either not looking in as often or ignoring a lot of impatient and unrealistic people. Don't mistake my silence for agreement on the efforts to wreck our program by starting over again.
It’s Creans fault.....thanks for playing! Anymore

Yes, they are now our two best defenders, and it’s not even close. Juwan is being forced to usually cover bigger players and is still effective. Romeo has gotten better and better defensively recently and has been excellent defensively on ball as of late. He should have been moved onto Bohannon during OT. His long arms and height might have helped.
I fail to see how you can be labeled as a teams "best defender" and be in foul trouble every game. Romeo gets beat like a red headed stepchild because he has slow feet.

Expecting IU to make the tournament this year, isn't unrealistic. Expecting IU to at least make the tourney next year isn't unrealistic. You can keep your head in the sand and give him 4 years with no expectations, but don't expect the rest of us to.

Also, I wouldn't worry about wrecking the program. The program has already been wrecked and is burning to the ground. We haven't won a national title in 30 years. We've only made it past the SW 16 once in 25 years. We are going to miss the NCAA tournament for the 7th time in 11 years.

You really can't understand why people would want to fire, Archie, if he misses the tourney 3 years in a row?
If I was a 6 year old that expected instant gratification I would be calling for Archie's head too. I am an adult that knows you build a program through recruiting and player development. I saw our current roster mess starting 3 years ago as Crean whiffed on all the Indiana talent that was available for another year. Crean was banking on a successful year to buy him time for the '17-'18 dumpster fire roster. Instead he dumped it on Archie and it wasn't as bad as I imagined it would be.

It is asinine to throw in the towel this early and bring in a coach that will have to hope he can keep TJD and avoid losing others. Any losses will have to be replaced by juco and grad transfers or settle for the recruits that have not signed. That coach in year 2 could be worse off than Archie and people like you will want him fired too.

I suggest you follow the NBA. Teams can trade, sign free agents, and draft their way to success. Find a team with good management and deep pockets.

I would be excited if he turned it around next year. I want him to win and actually like Archie, unlike Crean. My one nit is I still think he should would 20+ games next year and haven’t lowered my expectations for next year, because he greatly underachieved this year. I would send him packing if we weren’t at least a 7ish seed.
Nothing less than the NCAA tourney should be tolerated in year 3. Now it probably will be tolerated cause we have fred but it should not be. Year 3 is suppose to be the year I am told!

I think making the tournament in year 3 is a reasonable "lowest bar" expectation for next year?

Three years is enough to get "decent". I actually do think IU will make the dance next year, but if they don't I don't see any way anyone could want him back (unless there just isn't money to cover all that dead coaching pay)….
He probably should of made it this year where you could of made it not even going .500 in the big ten. Now the pressure will really be on him and most big ten teams return alot of players.

Well sad. It has been wrecked so much what more is left to wreck? It is the lowest point in the history of the program so its not like it would even matter much.

Yes, with 3.5 million dollars comes a lot of responsibility and expectation of job performance!

I have always said and I said the same under crean if the expectation should not be the ncaa or 20 wins then go find somebody you can pay 1 to 1.25 million and go with that. You should be keep paying top ten money if the expectations are not that high.

You may have the patience of Job, but you have the reading comprehension of a 6 year old. The entire conversation was about the expectations for year 3. TJD would already be on campus finishing up his freshman year.

One thought on Crean. I said/knew he wasn't any good after year 3, rather than seeing the light 3 years ago, like yourself. Perhaps, I'm just a few years ahead of you again.

I think 20 wins is a realistic expectation, but if we make the tourney next year, Archie's not getting fired.

I don't think Archie is getting fired if he wins half his games next year. Fred's comments on it being a "major rebuild" were for lowering expectations in year 3 and year 4, in my opinion. If Archie is able to make the tourney in year 4, he will get at least 5 years. Fred knows there is enough iubuds who will fall for it.

Don't you want the firing to begin now? Why wait if you are so sure he will fail?
