I thought when u have injuries especially two starters you are allowed to tank the season ? Joke

Question. Would the Archie detractors be upset if he were to start turning things around next season? In other words, they overachieve and win 20 or more - since I expect most will say they’ll be lucky to go .500 next year.

Have you gotten to the point where you have no hope (or thought he was a terrible pick from the start) and it would piss you off if he starts winning next year, because you just want him gone ASAP?

Question: Why do the blind lemmings keep making excuses for Archie losing this year on this site?

We have been told by the die hard archie guys year three is when you turn it around. So i expect nothing less than 20 wins. The honeymoon is over and year 3 is culture time.

LOL! So what you want to do is make it so the standards are so high Archie will fail regardless. If it looks like he will win 20 you’ll change the goal posts to 25 wins. Right?

I would be excited if he turned it around next year. I want him to win and actually like Archie, unlike Crean. My one nit is I still think he should would 20+ games next year and haven’t lowered my expectations for next year, because he greatly underachieved this year. I would send him packing if we weren’t at least a 7ish seed.

But I thought us missing a couple role players for a couple games was “unprecedented”? You mean to tell me that’s false too?

If you don't understand the difference between a coach who has had decades at a school to build a roster and a coach who has had a one year recruiting class (meaning only having less than a year to seriously evaluate and pursue the level of talent he can recruit to IU), we may be able to start a "kids" forum for you so you can discuss your brilliant theories....

You want realistic expectations? Don't come anywhere near this board...

Its year 3. What 15 wins? Unreal.

Sorry, but 20+ wins in year 3 isn't an unrealistic expectation. I don't think it's fair to base next season's expectations on this season.

Its been a dumpster fire and Archie massively underachieces with this team this year. If you want to blame the season on players underachieving and a lack of shooters thats fine. But Archie is the guy who didnt bring in the right players.

I was a big fan of his hiring and hope he succeeds. But he's the coach and next year is year 3. The NCAA tournament should be mandatory next year.

Agreed! Whatever the problem has been - chemistry in the locker room, bad plays, turnovers, can't hit free throws, etc - it all falls on CAM.

Of course not. If Archie starts winning at a high level I will be the first to change tune and support him. That’s just not going to happen.

Would love to see things turn around next year. Not often you see a team do that after losing their top 2 scorers. And we need some players to grow up quickly as losing both will also cause rebounding challenges. Mighty tall mountain to climb next year. Archie could really use 1-2 real solid grad transfers next season. Make that, disparately use.

You think scoring will be a problem next season? We’ll also be losing our two best defenders, Morgan and Romeo. We will need our returning players to make giant leaps next season and at least one of the new recruits to be a high level starter. And throw in that Archie and his staff need to make a giant leap too. Unless our competition is really mediocre, next season could be really tough.

I am not a diehard fan of Archie, but I am not going to ignore reality. Archie coached last year with a roster he had nothing to do with except keeping the players and recruits signed from leaving. This is his first year with his own recruits.

One recruiting class isn't going to solve the terrible team that Crean left. It will take 2 more good recruiting classes to get us on even footing with the league. After Archie's third class, I will make a judgement on the progress.

In the meantime, I will be either not looking in as often or ignoring a lot of impatient and unrealistic people. Don't mistake my silence for agreement on the efforts to wreck our program by starting over again.

not looking to squabble but how could you possibly know for certain?

and that's what has turned this board into a shit storm. some of you guys just will not let this thing play out. i get it that 30 years of meh and 9 years of crean have made you gun shy, but there really isn't overwhelming evidence to decide this either way. just need more data.

Morgan and Romeo are our two best defenders? If that were true we wouldn't have won a single game this year.

Answer, I'm in the Archie detractor camp and if we don't win 20 or more, he needs to be fired. If you don't think that's a realistic expectation, then he should be fired now and end the suffering for all.

Expecting IU to make the tournament this year, isn't unrealistic. Expecting IU to at least make the tourney next year isn't unrealistic. You can keep your head in the sand and give him 4 years with no expectations, but don't expect the rest of us to.

Also, I wouldn't worry about wrecking the program. The program has already been wrecked and is burning to the ground. We haven't won a national title in 30 years. We've only made it past the SW 16 once in 25 years. We are going to miss the NCAA tournament for the 7th time in 11 years.

I think making the tournament in year 3 is a reasonable "lowest bar" expectation for next year?

Three years is enough to get "decent". I actually do think IU will make the dance next year, but if they don't I don't see any way anyone could want him back (unless there just isn't money to cover all that dead coaching pay)….

Yes, they are now our two best defenders, and it’s not even close. Juwan is being forced to usually cover bigger players and is still effective. Romeo has gotten better and better defensively recently and has been excellent defensively on ball as of late. He should have been moved onto Bohannon during OT. His long arms and height might have helped.

I think 20 wins is a realistic expectation, but if we make the tourney next year, Archie's not getting fired.

Lmao!! Winning is impossible when you have 2 starters injured don’t let anyone tell u differently
