Let me preface this with the fact I’ve always thought player/fan social media interaction was a bad bad idea.
I only recently started following after NIL and it was insisted that larger following gets them better deals.
I’ve never engaged, tweeted at or responded to their tweets with criticism, or in general (other than maybe a retweet) and have advocated for others not to as well.
Today I find that Xavier has blocked me on Twitter (I’m assuming he’s blocked others). It makes me wonder the mental space some of these players are in that they’re searching their names, clicking on profiles, and spending the time to block people on a mindless platform like Twitter.
Most coaches will say (including ours), stay off social media… especially during the season.
If IU’s players are worried about criticisms from Twitter fans (or message board fans) more than preparing for beating their top 5 ranked rival… I guess that’s all that we need to know about the team.
