So Now Biden

Not all degrees are worth the same, Zeke. People getting over $100,000 out of college must be some pretty advanced, smart, accomplished people. Or they have skills that only a tiny fraction of people do. They are also going to work way more than a teacher. Want to add an extra hour on a day for before and after school? OK. That brings it up to 1440 hrs a year., still nearly 500 hours fewer than a normal 9 to 5er, even with generous vacation time. These are facts and that is how labor markets work.

You're exaggerating the number of teachers working on the weekend. Maybe it happened once or twice a year. It's easily provable though. When you come up here to visit, stay over a Friday night (I'll buy the margaritas!) and we'll drive around to ten schools of whatever age group you want and see how many teachers are in the schools working. I'll set the over/under on 10% of the teachers for any given school, and I'll take the under.

As for your other factors, every job has those. You don't think every job comes with the requirement that you be there a little before and after your real work schedule? That there aren't endless tasks technically not job related that they have to do? That answering the phone, emails, etc. doesn't go on all day and night for some? That they aren't spending their own money on their jobs?
Working weekends and evenings isn’t referring to time in the actual school building or classroom. That’s time spent grading papers, grading assignments, getting assignments ready, getting the lessons ready, all of it home…do you think teachers do all that shit between 7a-3:30p?

You guys crack me up with the tough job and underpaid talk. Join the Navy for a 24/7/365 job and spend 4 to 6 years on a warship (enlisted) or 3 as an officer, followed by a second ship. Stand “6 on, 6 off” (port and stbd) watches while at sea (12 hours every 24 hours) and do your normal job between watches along with chow, maybe a workout, and some sleep. That’s life in the Navy and junior enlisted and officers aren’t getting a teacher’s salary for it. That comes years down the road, so to speak.

When I retired from the Navy I told friends, “I retired from the Navy and now I work part time . . . 40 hours a week.” It’s humorous because it’s true - except I actually work more and they only pay me for 40. It’s OK, they pay me well, and it’s still way easier than any of my six ship tours.

So you got free travel, room, board, and an exercise facility thrown in?

How old are you?

There are a ton of teachers living in my community and I'm in a middle to upper middle class area.

The average salary in Indiana is $48,253 and the average teacher salary in Indiana is $54,126.
And teachers can thank the teachers union for putting a cap on their earnings. No one can get more than anyone else, don'tcha know.

Nobody wants to pay their dues and work their way up. They think they should start out making what their parents are making right out of college.

Enough. Seriously, enough. We don’t need to hear any more about how life on a warship is the most difficult job in the world. We live in 2023, no one is going to attack the U.S. Navy. You boys could chill in hammocks and eat bananas all day and no one would be the wiser.

Start showing a little bit more respect to the top 5% that pay for those Navy salaries and that Warship.

You have not thanked me for your pension yet. And I will wait for an apology until you actually put your life on the line.

Launching missiles at camels and RPG’s in the desert does not count.

If its there, I hope it comes to light, and that they're punished for it.

I guess maybe it pays to not be an absolute, complete, well rounded a-hole like Trump. When you've cheated on, cheated out, swindled, ruined, as many people as Trump has in his life/career, there are more pitchforks headed to your castle.

Biden's no angel, but comparatively, he's Mother Theresa. And no, the false narrative that he's worse because he's doing it behind the scenes, hasn't been caught, "pretends" to be good ole Joe, etc... doesn't make him a worse person than Trump.

Continue with ALL the Trump investigations.

Continue with ALL the Biden investigations.

Or, pull a Trump on the golf course, and have both parties just call it "good-good", both from 30 feet...and make both of them go retire somewhere and leave the world alone.
No, Biden's not Mother Theresa, comparatively speaking. That's just dumb.

I remember a family Christmas that broke out into chaos one year over Mother Theresa.

My mom on one side. My uncle on the other.

My mom contended that Bill Gates (pre- pedo) was a better person than Mother- Theresa because he lifted millions out of poverty.

My uncle contended that Mother Theresa gave 100% of her heart and 100% of her faith to helping people and that Bill Gates had selfish desires.

My answer is neither. People can’t be judged on a “1-100%” good person scale. It’s more complicated. But my mom was right.

I'm part of the top 5%. I'm paying more for my military retirement than you are. Show some respect.

I don't know, I think it's possible. As you said earlier, you're at about 5%. Seems about right. :)

Nah. I have 2 law enforcement siblings and an 8 year marine, 23 year retired coast guard commander father.

I respect what you do but I won’t pray at the alter of person just because they served. I know better than that.

My family complain about their tax rates, and I never miss a chance to remind them of their pension and government salary.

They live in quite a paradox,
Conservative values and economics philosophy, but government employees…..

Who wants you to pray at an alter for any of us? As I said before, and I meant it, the odds you could meet the standards for serving in the military are slim.

I think you’re wrong. But oh well. I did decide between Westpoint and Indiana. Young and dumb I took the full ride where I could party more. But I developed melanoma gimping golf bags 12 hours a day for 10 years.

What did you sacrifice?

Really? Who nominated you for West Point? What officer did your interview? What were your physical fitness results? What varsity sports did you participate in while in high school?

Navy bitch, where is the best place to meet you for your fitness test that passes Navy standards? I will wager 20K plus travel expenses. You wanna take it offline?
I’ve been retired since 2012. I know I can’t pass the physical fitness test today. I doubt you could either.

Yeah, give it up, @GiggityGoo No way you could qualify for this man's Navy.

The Daily Mail? Look at the pictures and they aren’t pictures of actual US Navy personnel. Read the captions. Are you truly stupid or are you willfully ignorant? Those are now the only two options.

Yeah, I must be making it all up.

I don’t do much distance running anymore. I’m good for a 5-6 mile run once every week or two. Other than that, I just do a mile or two on the track after a lift.

I hated Cross Country, but I was good. Running sucks, talk about will power and pain tolerance though. More so than any other sport I can think of outside of combat sports.

Clearly, you've never played pickleball.
