Smith

Archie takes Smith out after he totally lost his man for the easy Northwestern layup; anyone else notice Smith's reaction when Archie asked about the play??? Disrespect; threw his arms out and walked away. Wouldn't play him another second! Oh to see how that would have gone over years ago when IU had a real basketball program.

Sit Smith for the rest of the game!

I'm with you but with him in the first 34 minutes hey would they were losing... total game just not there. Wish it were...

I try to refrain from posting out of frustration during the game and tonight I caved. However, my point had nothing to do with Justin's level of talent and/or who we might put in instead. Justin's reaction to his coach during a teaching moment was inappropriate and does not reflect well on his potential (not to mention desire) to accept coaching and/or improve.

Gotta agree with this.

If you don’t have control of your team, you might as well pack your bags. I’d rather lose and guys respect what we’re trying to do than put up with that BS. It better change, or Archie has no chance of lasting in Bloomington.

I didn’t see this moment on TV. I did see NW players cut to the basket wide open several times tonight. Something in our defensive scheme is seriously broken. Rotations, attitudes, communication...

and I’ve been a big Phinese fan but he’s actually regressed a lot this season. Very concerning.

yet another moral loss tonight.

It's not about that, it's about the bigger picture. When a player disrespects the coach he should sit, bottom line.

When you play players (no matter what) you get what we're getting right now, sloppy, undisciplined, losing basketball.
What did Smith say to Archie?

I'm not exactly sure what he said, but it was clearly disrespectful and dismissive. How the hell Archie tolerates that is beyond me. And to make matters even worse, he sends him out to do the postgame presser. Good gawd Arch. Are you serious?

NW has been back cutting us for how many years 20 25 ?

Jesus christ.

Smith has limited white guy half court skills. He's going to struggle, or not look his best in a half court, slow paced game. He's better this year but, he's not a guy that's smooth around the hoop in traffic like a Jordan Crawford or Victor Oladipo.

He's is really good, elite in transition.

Problem is our guards are garbage and we don't get many transition opportunities.

This is about the 100th time I've had to post this.

He's very similar to Sam Thompson.

Unfortunately on offense no one is even close to pushing him. Damezi and Hunter are still playing like they aren't sure they are good enough (can someone please tell Hunter to drive more. He's the worst shooter I've ever seen).

Don’t win this game without him. This is a perfect example of why you shouldn’t post stupid crap early in a game.
Not stupid crap - so he had a couple of good minutes. Didn't change my mind. Maybe you should pay attention to the whole game - why was NW in the game at all? Smith to the rescue? What a crock.

That's something ingrained in their offense. It remains even through coaching changes because ALL of their players are 4 year players, so even when coaches change, they remember it and run it.

Sorry. Didn’t mean to get you all emotional. Take some deep breaths. My advice is to watch the entire game and not post hyperbolic nonsense long before it’s over. It isn’t good for your blood pressure and it ultimately makes you look like a fool.

But you can’t tolerate the attitude he showed when Miller took him out. That in itself will be more destructive than anything Smith does positively.
Read the third post in this thread.
I saw it live and I didn’t see it the same way. I saw his reaction as frustration with himself and the way he’d been playing at that point, and he should have been frustrated since he had been making dumb plays. I’m a retired senior military officer attuned to signs of disrespect and I didn’t see it as disrespect. Now, if he actually said something disrespectful, I’d change my opinion. I haven’t heard that he did.

Things happen in the heat of battle, and a good coach sometimes says things he shouldn't say as well...unless you were in the conversation, you don't know what was said, and you don't know exactly what Justin said or reacted to, but I do know that the kid had 18/7 and no matter what this board thinks, he is one of our best 5 players

Exactly. They have no idea what he said. Pure speculation and it fits their narrative.

Justene has good games and bad games depending on what day his PMS is acting up.
I thought you post “just facts”. You really look stupid posting this garbage. This is 5th grade level crap. I bet if you saw Justin Smith you would turn into little fanboy and run for an autograph. You sure as hell wouldn’t say this crap to his face. Such an internet tough guy....lol. Pathetic.
