Yep. I think with a little bit of planning by his staff, he could avoid awkward moments like yesterday. It wouldn't take much for his chief of staff to prepare for all his public appearances. "Don't try and lift the trophy up, but if you do..."
It's still relatively early in his VP run, so maybe he and his staff will learn. If he keeps having these types of 'Veep' moments, he won't be able to escape that perception.
