Stark: how many did we win?
Ye of little faith.we’ve screwed it up for 25+ years so my enthusiasm we make the right decision is pretty low. Afraid we end up with a Tom Crean 2.0.
So you’re left rolling the dice on Some Other Dude.
No….we just dodged Crean 2.0.we’ve screwed it up for 25+ years so my enthusiasm we make the right decision is pretty low. Afraid we end up with a Tom Crean 2.0.
The whole “They need 3-4 years” thing should be out the window. They get 2 years. And if that second year looks promising for a third, they get the third to prove it. If they aren’t looking great by year two, BYE. Because that’s how it’s been 3 decades of dog shit.
By waiting a year too long to ashcan Woody and telling Farkner and Ferguson to stuff it.
Dead program walking because Dusty's staying at Michigan? Okay, I'll put you in the "don't trust Dolson at all" category.By waiting a year too long to ashcan Woody and telling Farkner and Ferguson to stuff it.
Chance has been ruined. Dead program walking.
Fine. That would be extremely accurate. Why we got Woody in the first place was Dolson not channeling his inner Fred Glass and telling Quinn and Ferguson to stick it. At least Glass farked up by making his own decision on Arch.Dead program walking because Dusty's staying at Michigan? Okay, I'll put you in the "don't trust Dolson at all" category.
Dolson was boxed in, man. He tried his best to minimize the damage by bringing in Matta and Fife. Moreover, I bet he had to fight like a MF to get rid of Woody when he did. Oh, and Cig.Fine. So how did Glass not get boxed in? If he was allowed to make his own decision on Woody, why wasn’t Dolson? What was the point of naming him the AD if Quinn’s essentially running the show?Dolson was boxed in, man. He tried his best to minimize the damage by bringing in Matta and Fife. Your skepticism is understandable; I get it. Trust me, I'm not some happy-go-lucky guy who whistles Zippity-Do-Da out his asshole. I just happen to be confident that SD has got this.
I don't know the dynamics at play, but I reckon Dolson's job would have been in jeopardy had he fought the BOT and mighty boosters. By all accounts, he took his best shot at Brad, and those MFers slid in when he said no.So how did Glass not get boxed in? If he was allowed to make his own decision on Woody, why wasn’t Dolson? I wish I could share your optimism. Personally, none of the remaining commonly listed candidates move the meter much and I fear this search will get real weird in about 3-4 weeks. I would have sure thought that Dolson would have been doing substantial leg work, knowing that he was likely to be conducting a coaching search after this season. Maybe he has?? If you follow Tyme on X (who seems connected somehow to the athletic department) he claims the list is just now being compiled. If this is truly the case…..oh my!! I have always heard any AD worth his salt has a list in his desk of candidates for each sport in the even they need to hire a coach. If Dolson doesn’t and is just starting now????I don't know the dynamics at play, but I reckon Dolson's job would have been in jeopardy had he fought the BOT and mighty boosters. By all accounts, he took his best shot at Brad, and those MFers slid in when he said no.
I'm not claiming I'm right. And I'm not claiming you're wrong. I've been through every post-Knight hire, and I'm frustrated as hell ... just like you.
This time around, I think it's SD's show ... and I happen to believe he's going to break the curse.
This is actually a brilliant move. The public, purely in everyone’s DNA, moves on from things. They’ll be completely consumed by something else by then and you spring it on them.Personally, unless there are more issues than the surface level, I would leak Beard interest on the side of IU. Let some ppl vent and spew hate on it for a month. At that point people have moved on, and hire him once the temperature has cooled.
All I know is that I don't know shit. I'm choosing to trust Dolson and the process. Moreover, I think he's been on top of this, to some degree, since Senior Day last season. I really do.I wish I could share your optimism. Personally, none of the remaining commonly listed candidates move the meter much and I fear this search will get real weird in about 3-4 weeks. I think he's been on top of it since the "true fan" bullshit almost a year ago.0 Chance Dolson has not been out in front. Any agent worth a damn read the room after the Bahamas, and started pushing their guy. Dolson was clearly not a fan of Woodson. You don't think he picked up the phone the last 3 months?
Dolson has had a list for a minimum of 12 months. You can bet money on that.I wish I could share your optimism. Hell yeah he has. Shit, SD probably started his list as soon as Woody's introductory press conference was over.Dolson has had a list for a minimum of 12 months. You can bet money on that.
I don’t think you need to worry about dividing the fan base. That’s probably the least of our worries. You have to remember, this is the same fan base you’re talking about that actually believes Keith Smart is a viable candidate. You cant hire a no name or mid major the fan base will be divided. As long as we get a proven winner Indiana will be fine. Most on here are fine with Beard, Pearl, Drew..
The fan base will unite if we win. Nobody will care that the coach came from a mid-major or D2 program (if that's the case). You cant hire a no name or mid major the fan base will be divided. As long as we get a proven winner Indiana will be fine. Most on here are fine with Beard, Pearl, Drew..
Pastor Van refuses to help because he is worried Purdue fans (no less) are praying for us to have a suck hire.I don't know the dynamics at play, but I reckon Dolson's job would have been in jeopardy had he fought the BOT and mighty boosters. By all accounts, he took his best shot at Brad, and those MFers slid in when he said no.

Well, it is not like any of us have any choice in the matter. Sure we can discuss different coaches for fun until the chickens roost but SD is driving the ship and will make the recommendation to the BOT that they will approve so we have to trust him. I will try to support whomever he puts in there and hope like hell he can come close to the hit he made with Cig, but that kind of success does not happen often. All I know is that I don't know shit. I'm choosing to trust Dolson and the process. Moreover, I think he's been on top of this, to some degree, since Senior Day last season. I really do.
I'm paying no mind to "reports"--positive or negative--unless they're validated (like tonight's Dusty news). Otherwise, it's all rumor and speculation. I'm not saying my perspective will undoubtedly be accurate ... but I think it will.
I guess we'll definitively see soon enough if my faith is justified ... or if I'm a gullible dope.
I don't think that's true: Chris Beard, I and many believe, would come here and relish the opportunity I believe.I don’t think it’s a case of ****ing it up. It’s simply not that easy to find the Next Big Thing. An already proven coach isn’t coming here, regardless of what people think. So you’re left rolling the dice on Some Other Dude.
I agree with Ryan on Assembly Call: move on as soon as you see your coach isn't the guy to get you where you want the program to go. That was last year. Hopefully we've learned our lesson. Dolson's position is obviously enhanced and much stronger with the hiring of Cignetti. The whole “They need 3-4 years” thing should be out the window. They get 2 years. And if that second year looks promising for a third, they get the third to prove it. If they aren’t looking great by year two, BYE. Because that’s how it’s been 3 decades of dog shit.
Buckner already screwed the pooch.
Beard would crawl here on broken glass.I don't think that's true: Chris Beard, I and many believe, would come here and relish the opportunity I believe.
