Speculation about IU players leaving and Dayton players coming doesn't mean much without considering the NCAA's rules and deadlines. Let's begin.

1. Current players going pro. The NCAA and NBA have different deadlines that are in partial conflict. The NCAA says: "This year, men's basketball student-athletes wishing to retain their eligibility must withdraw from the NBA draft by 11:59 p.m. Tuesday, April 10....The NBA’s deadline for student-athletes to enter the draft is April 29. However, if underclassmen declare between April 11-29, they will relinquish any remaining college eligibility." Here's a link:

So, ultimately, guys like Bryant and Blackmon do not have to decide whether to declare for the NBA draft until 4-10-17.

2. New recruits. The spring signing period for recruits to sign their National Letter of Intent (prior to enrolling for 2017-18) is April 12, 2017 to May 17, 2017. Here's the link:

If there remain any unsigned recruits out there that Miller would want at IU, the deadline hasn't yet expired to sign them.

3. Recruits seeking releases. I couldn't find a specific deadline for recruits to seek a release from their Letter of Intent if they already signed one last fall, but the rules for seeking a release are included in the link above under "Release and Appeals." It appears the first step is for the recruit to ask his current school for permission to contact other schools. According to the following link, two of Crean's three signees have already asked IU to release them from their Letters of Intent:

4. Current players wanting to transfer. Current players wanting to transfer also need to ask their current schools for permission to contact other schools' coaches and athletic departments. There's a 20-page brochure for those rules:

From these rules, Dayton obviously controls the possibility that Miller's players and 2017 recruits at Dayton can come with Miller to IU. I don't think Dayton will make any such decision until Dayton hires anew coach and he meets Dayton's players.

On the IU end, we don't really know how many player slots are open in the first place. I assume Miller will want to meet IU's current players ASAP, to begin learning whether he wants to keep them (and vice versa !!).
