Season ticket sales

Section 107, row 7. Despite not being able to select early in the process, I'm very pleased with my seats. Can't wait, Go Hoosiers! If I remember correctly, I was in tier 2 and those seats worked out to be approximately $92/ticket with the included donation to the varsity club. Yes, higher in the past, but still not bad. I suspect a few will not renew due to the higher price, but would guess that would more than be made up for by more people buying tickets due to our success on the field.

Single game tickets are for sale starting today. I went to the site to see what was available and it looks like the lower half of the west side is more or less sold out. The upper half had quite a few openings. The east side stands had a lot of openings.

I was looking at the Old Dominion (opener) & Illinois (B1G opener). It'll probably take a few wins to show it wasn't a flash in the pan to get consistent sell outs, but the pre-sales look generally strong.

I’m somewhat concerned there will be 10k Illinois fans at the game. Honestly thought we’d do a lot better than what the map shows. It will be a gut punch not to sell out the opener.
I think we need to wait and see how single game ticket sales go. Those just went on sale to donors. July 8th single game tickets go on sale to the general public.

Illinois doesn’t travel that well, 5K would be worst case, just my guess maybe I’m wrong.

But yea, we need to sell out every game. Maybe it’s okay if cupcake games #2 and #3 are a little short, especially if it’s really hot like those games can be sometimes.

Lots of people are not thinking football right now.
The die hard fans like us get our tickets early.
I think when it’s gets to August, sales will pick up.
If the weather is good for the opener I could see there being a big walk up crowd.

I'm hoping some day not to need Band Day events to boost ticket sales and attendance.
That's definitely something that could happen with another couple of years of success. But it's also (allegedly) a decent recruiting tool for the Hundred, so I'd guess they'll shoehorn it in for absolutely as long as they can.

Unfortunately I have not been back to Bloomington in decades. But I watch every video I can find regarding every aspect of the football program.

I have never seen an impressive pregame or halftime Indiana marching band show. Short of a few iconic bands, the marching band programs are technology obsolete. Look at pro football. How have they kept marching band programs relevant? Answer: they got rid of them.

The sad reality in the past has been that when the halftime show begins it’s time for the fans to go home.

Back in the ‘60’s, Band Day was a much bigger deal than what be see today. More schools participated. Driving up to the stadium, one always knew it was Band Day by all the school busses. Attendance was notably higher with all the high schooler’s parents buying walk-up tickets to find their kid in a kaleidoscope of colors as the kids assembled in the two end zones and ran towards the centerline to out-loud each other.

Memorial Stadium’s aluminum benches are so uncomfortable that I start squirming on my haunches midway through the 2nd Q. By halftime, I’m ready to depressurize my gluts with a hike for a piss, fresh faces, and food/drink. It will take more than squeaky clarinets to keep me sitting through a halftime show, especially in the sweltering heat of early season. I don’t understand why IU doesn’t allow fans to bring in their own seat cushions for padded…excuse me, added comfort. It’s inconsiderate of them and reeks of greed.

Our band sucks. But I've been to every Big Ten Championship football game that's ever happened and I can tell you that I get pretty jazzed about seeing Wisconsin, Ohio State and even Penn State and Michigan State, to a lesser degree.

And I don't have many quibbles with the IU pregame show. It's not elite, but it's good. Halftime is a joke, usually, outside of Homecoming.

Not really disagreeing with you, but I find it absolutely hilarious that someone would STILL need convincing that IU is actually good in football and worth supporting. What a miserable existence lol.

Where are you seeing his? Smedley is still listed on the Jacobs staff directory as the director of athletic bands, but those are often not updated promptly. But even on the Marching Hundred site for Jacobs I don't see any mention of leadership
