Scott Drew to Kentucky

I think they'll go after Billy Donovan first and Jay Wright second. I agree Drew to me doesn't seem like a UK guy. Hard to guess where they'd go if they struck out on those first two, but I'd say draw a name from Beard, Oates, Pearl or Hurley.
I still don’t understand why people think Jay Wright is coming out of retirement when he loved the school he was at and was loved by the fans there. What on earth makes you think he’s going to come back and go to a school like Kentucky? Or Indiana? Or any other school not named Villanova?

If it isn't Oats or Donovan, I'll be pretty surprised. Which probably means it won't be either of them....

Could end up being Oats to Kentucky, Donovan to Alabama...

That'd be really cool...a school who's fans legitimately don't care if they have a bball team or not, would get Nate Oats and Billy Donovan as their last 2 coaches... Being an IU fan is so fun and rewarding.

10 million reasons why. I didn't say they'd get any of them, just who I thought they'd go after. Personally Donovan to UK makes the most sense to me and where I'd guess it will end up.

I could see Donovan going to UK. I can't see Donovan going to Alabama. Or anywhere else not named Kentucky.

I can see him considering UK, I agree, I don't think he'd consider IU, unless he just really wanted to get back into coaching and we made him a supreme offer. Of course, I'd have never thought Calipari could end up at AR either.

Stevens has been out of the college game for 11 years, and out of coaching completely for 3. There's no way that guy returns to college basketball, for anyone.
But Donovan even longer! And of course, Mike Woodson had never coached in college! What's that tell you?

I did say if because I was not in any meetings. So you think Cal left them high and dry and now UK is scrambling to find a coach?
Not even close. I assure all necessary parties were involved and Ky knows who their next coach is.

Given that this is a prediction, not a report of fact, you should probably edit your thread title....maybe put a question mark after it or something like that.

It's written as a report of something that's happened.

I don't get the impression that Mitch Barnhart is as caught up in the idea of hiring somebody because they're alum as he is in hiring somebody because they give UK the best chance to win championships.
Nor have UK fans cried and moaned to hire a legacy as their coach.

I think our fans can claim some responsibility for the constant whining of hiring a legacy that lead to us ending up with Woody. Because no other program in the country would have hired him based on his credentials (and that's not a shot at him...he was 'successful' in the NBA for a long time).

Nobody else intentionally burns down their blue blood program the way IU did over the last 25+ years

It’s amazing our fans are still leading the conference in attendance and showing up big at neutral games like NYC and ATL. They also donate millions. IU is lucky.
