Sampson owns Painter

The final play was a nice one. I thought Purdue played the best they possibly could and got a lot of momentum from a home crowd to stay in that game til the end. Houston still has offensive issues but they are better than Purdue and would beat them more often than not.

Purdue fans, after a game, running to IU board...

The "not-so-witty" post right on cue. You made that up on your own, right? C'mon man, do better....

SMH....

Purdue was not a championship caliber team this year. There's no shame in taking a #1 seed twelve rounds and losing by decision - somewhat literally.

I'll take that banner along with our character and program; and the silent satisfaction knowing we are a nationally respected program and that Indiana basketball has gone from agony to outright desperation.

But behind your keyboard...you know all this.

Now carry on with your not-so-witty posts. None of them will change the truth. But I know it makes you feel better and mental health is important.
You're incredibly lucky that Sampson left IU and that IU has been it's own worst enemy: behind your keyboard, you know this. Painter has been a "national" program about as often as Mike Davis was.

Eh, little bit of a mixed bag. The inbounds play for the win was obviously brilliantly executed, but the last 5+ minutes, where they let PU get back into a game they were completely out of, was some of the most braindead offensive play I've seen...aside from the vast majority of Woodson's four years, of course.

I mean, just terrible. There were at least five straight possessions where they just dribbled aimlessly around the perimeter until there were five seconds left on the shot clock, and then just jacked up a shot. If they ran any semblance of an offense, this would've been a blowout. Put it this way, while the Vols aren't quite the defensive juggernaut that UH is, they most certainly can score while also locking you down. Had this been UT-PU, it would've been over at halftime. Thankfully, we didn't have to wait until the Elite 8 to see that. The good news: there should be a lot of seats available for Sunday, if anyone would like to see a great game live.
I watched a replay of the play. I couldn't help but think of the Zeller blunder vs. Illinois (March 2013). One could argue B. Smith leaving the inbound passer open was a more costly mistake. However, Cody's blunder likely cost IU the #1 seed of the tournament. Win that game play closer to home, avoid Syracuse. Purdue's play with 0.8 seconds' cost PU a date to the elite 8. IU still made the tournament; would they have won it all--had Cody's 0.9 blunder second left cost IU a better tournament seeding.

I’ve never thought of that. Thanks for reminding me and having to relive that! And Syracuse! 🥲

TKR should have fouled out when he hit the UH player on the hand during the layup attempt. Plus, the game should have been in New Orleans or Dallas.
There's a lot of "coulda, woulda, shoulda" with you...:).

But I suspect you're a pretty decent dude to have a beer and talk hoops with. IU fans were intolerable during the 70's and 80's (as evidenced by the video posted above) with every middle aged dude wearing a red v-neck sweater, "Knight mini-me's", emulating a coach who had little respect for basic human dignity, regurgitating whatever "coach" said, while Purdue was trying to hold it's end of the bargain. It's just fun to see you squirm a little bit. Been there.

Suspect Knight figured it was all in good humor. And it was. Not "butt-hurt" here, whatever that is - but just having a little fun, good humor, from a changed landscape. I'm sure you can understand that.

Have a good offseason; way too busy for too much more of this.

got it because we are now the elite program in state of Indiana
IU's recently departed coach went .500 against PU, so that's some funny stuff. I believe I just watched Myles Rice and Trey Galloway school PU a few weeks ago.

Houston was the #1 seed: they deserved the home game, not PU. Let's not get too butt hurt about the refs after receiving that boon.

Purdue played beyond their fanbase or anyone else’s expectations. Lighten up, Francis.

66-0 was also fun. I doubt I see you on the football board anytime soon. Reminder: Woody split with PU.

Painter is much closer to Keady than Knight. I also can't think of anything I have seen from Painter that I haven't seen from Crean or Mike Davis. At some point, IU will land on the right coach, and NIL and the Portal can change circumstances real quick.

Crean would have got beat eventually even if he got past Syracuse. Team wasn’t destined for a final regardless.

Im not usually on the “they ran out of gas” train. College aged athletes have enormous gas tanks. But if Creans daily manic marathon practices are true and happened, I tend to believe that team did run out of gas. The OSU game, the BTT game, the Temple game… then Syracuse… they looked tired.

Yet not too busy to come to the IU board after losing your big game.

Well..., he's right in that it's hardly worth the time to point out that p u found yet another way (the inbounds) to Choke away a Tournament game...

That's become so routine that even bothering to comment on it is almost like noting that it's hot in August in southern Indiana...

The Official neckwear of the p u faithful:

(It's my understanding that the above can also be special ordered with a phony gold plating for the discerning jonny perdu clubber)

77-43 record again IU football is also fun.
