Rutgers-MSU game and what it means for us

I'm saying that IU will definitely lose. IU is not a good football team. I said it. I will eat crow on this board on Saturday night if proven wrong but I've seen this re-run too many times. Laviano and Caroo will be breaking all sorts of records, I'm afraid. We have a very bad habit of doing that. CKW needs to step up the motivation this week. To quote a recent Purdue theme: "all the eggs in one basket" this week!
Seen what re-run? We lost to the #1 team by 7 and then lost to a 5-1 PSU team without our two best players. Did you think we would go undefeated?
Also, we tend to follow up a poor loss with a decent performance (as long as we aren't going up against a top 10 team).
The problem Wilson has had following a really strong showing with a poor one. Would have been interesting to see what would have happened in the PSU if we were healthy.
What if PSU had been healthy? Then it would have been really interesting.
Most of your fans are right. With Sudfeld we have a chance. With Sudfeld and Howard...we're probably favored.
With neither...you guys win 90% of the time....IMO, of course.
The re-run that looks eerily similar to 2014. Injuries at the QB slot that make our team virtually non-competitive, compounded now by the replacement to Tevin Coleman who is also injured.
Did not expect to go undefeated but you cannot argue that things look promising with basically our entire offensive backfield depleted. We saw that same show last year and everyone knew that if the same thing played out this season, it would result in a re-run of that episode.
And they tried to recruit Kelly, but lost out to Ole Miss. You can't just snap your fingers and make a really good back up appear , 5th year seniors and Jucos don't really want to come to a place where they are most likely a backup. Their time is limited and they want to, at least , compete to start. For next year I would think we could have a good shot at a juco or 5th year guy as the position is wide open.
Tre left us in a horrible spot waiting as long as he did, Coffman may or may not have remained had Tre decided earlier, but pretty hard for him to stay sitting at #3 on the depth chart.
I agree that things are not promising without our starting offensive backfield, but that would be true for most programs. Yes, other teams have injuries, but most don't lose both QB and RB and just plug in equal replacements.
We don't know when these guys will return, but they will, and all is not lost. We will see how this weekend goes, I am more optimistic about Suds than Howard, but we'll see on Saturday. Remember, you also predicted 3 wins and we have already surpassed that !
I consider Rutgers not good because I watched Purdue about knock off MSU in Lansing. And how's PU's season going?
Though any optimism for IU assumes they will be healthy. If Howard and Sudfelds injuries were season ending, then I'd understand the pessimism, but most people are assuming that Sudfeld will play Saturday and that Howard will be out no more than another week or 2
